Security: Delta North Monarchs Meets with Lawmakers, Others

Traditional rulers in Delta North met with elected officials representing the area from the National Assembly, State House of Assembly and local government Chairmen to discuss issues on security in the area.

The meeting was held Thursday at the palace of Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor II, the traditional ruler of Owa kingdom, Ika North East local government area of Delta State.

The closed door meeting was held to proffer solution to insecurity in Delta North ranging from fulani herdsmen attack, kidnapping and armed robbery.

Addressing newsmen shortly after the meeting, Dr. Efeizomor, who doubles as the Chairman, Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, noted the meeting would continue.

He lamented that women are being kidnapped and raped, appealing to the herdsmen to come out of the bushes just as he said the security of the area shouldn’t be left alone in the hands of government.

It would be recall that Delta North monarchs had invited their lawmakers to brainstorm on the way forward as it affects security in the senatorial district.

The deliberation also focused on how to strengthen community vigilante to enable them confront security challenges and how to harmonized all the Community vigilante into a uniform security outfit to be able to confront the security challenges.

Those who attended the meeting includes the Deputy Speaker, Ocho Ocho, Engr Emeka Nwobi,, Aniocha North, Moses Iduh, Festus Okoh, Charles Emetulu, Ndokwa West, Princess Pat Ajudwa, Oshimili north, Austin Chikezie, Aniocha south, Elekokuri Anthony, Ika north east,  and the Aniocha north local government chairman, Mr. Chuks Oseme, and others.
