Professional Football: Aniocha North Council Boss, Emma Chinye Goes For Talent Hunt, Institutes Aniocha North Chairman’s Football Cup Competition

The Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Delta State, Hon. Emma Bazim Chinye has instituted a yearly football tournament in the Local Government Area.

The football competition tagged, “Aniocha North Chairman’s Cup”, is expected to run for a period of three Months, commencing among the 18 communities in the Local Government Area, in October of every year.

The Executive Chairman announced the institution of the Football Tournament in his maiden meeting held recently in his office at Issele-Uku with members of the Local Government Youth Development/Innovative Committee, Association of Aniocha North Couches and Critical Partners.

Partners present at the meeting were his Chief Adviser on Diaspora Matters Ambassador Alphonsus Uche Ojiodu, President of SUS Rurntal Soccer Club of Germany, Mr Dietmart Wuiust, UEFA International renowned Coach and Football Club Manager, Mr. Henry Ojiodu and a prominent football tournament sponsor, Engr Fidel Onwodi.

Hon Emma Chinye said the institution of the tournament was in line with his administration’s GIANS Mantra and in keeping with his administration’s avid determination to develop the Youths through Sports by providing a veritable platform to engage and encouraging some of them to pursue a professional football career abroad.

He emphasized that the Aniocha North Local Government, in conjunction with the Partners, will use the Football tournament to hunt for talents in football with a view to sponsoring discovered talents abroad to pursue careers in Professional Football, whereby, in the long run, they would be able to contribute in the development of the Local Government Area.

The Council boss explained that the football tournament will be played among Aniocha North Youths, within the age bracket of 17 years and 23 years and will be supervised by a team of renowned football observers with a view to helping the local government discover those to be sponsored.

While assuring that the Committee for the Aniocha North Chairman’s Cup Football tournament for this year will soon be constituted, the Council Chairman said the Aniocha North Coaches Association will play major role in the Football tournament, even as he warned against unwholesome practices amongst the coaches during the tournament.

He declared that the talent hunt will be based on internationally acceptable standards where any form of corruption will not be entertained.

The Executive Chairman commended the Partners for their resolve and assured that the Local Government will not renege on its responsibilities and commitment towards developing the teeming youths of the area through sports enhancement in the area.

In their various contributions at the meeting, the Partners assured of their willingness to contribute immensely to the success of the programme and other activities of the Council for the overall benefit of the people of Aniocha North Local Government Area.

The meeting was also attended by the Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Clara Nneka Dibia, Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Raphael Uzo, Deputy Leader, Hon. Frank Iweke, Supervisors of the Council, Special Adviser to the Executive Chairman, Hon Ndubuisi Osemene and the Head of Personnel Management, Mr Bertrand Ojeah, as well as the Treasurer, Mrs Victoria Fregene.
