Police In Delta Confirms Release Of Hon. Joan Onyemaechi

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the release of Hon. Joan Onyemaechi, who was abducted in Asaba on Tuesday, August 30, 2024.

Hon. Onyemaechi, a former member of the House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly was kidnapped from her church, King Jesus and I, located off DBS Road, Asaba.

The circumstances surrounding her release remain unclear, with no confirmation of whether a ransom was paid.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Edafe Bright, who confirmed to cshowcasenews.com of her release from her abductors through SMS, stated, “Indeed she has been released, but i cannot confirm if any ransom was paid, please”

Also a close family member confirmed that the woman has been released. He said she was admitted in an undisclosed Private hospital where she is currently undergoing medical treatment.

The closed family source assured that Hon. Onyemaechi will soon make a public appearance, even as he appreciated Deltans for their prayers and show of concern for their Sister and the family.

The past week was fraught with uncertainty and concern over Hon. Onyemaechi’s safety. However, the confirmation of her release by both the police and close family members has brought relief and ended the confusion.

According to reports, the successful rescue of the former Commissioner for Technical Education in Delta State was the result of a coordinated effort involving the State Government and the various security agencies in the State.
