Leaders of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State have paid condolence visit to the family of late Chief Victor Egbune.
The leaders led by the former Deputy Governor of the State, Chief Benjamin Elue, were at the Country home of the deceased on Monday at Issele-Uku where they met with the wife, the Children and other members of the family.
Members of the delegation includes; a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PDP and member of the State Advisory and Elders Council, Chief Nkem Okwuofu, another member of the State Advisory and Elders Council, Chief Barrister Ada Josephine Kachikwu, the Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Engr Emeka Emmanuel Nwaobi, and Chief Emma Eboh.
Also among the delegation was the State representative in the South South Executive Committee of the PDP; Deacon Chuks Nwaebuni, Chairman of the Party in Aniocha North, Dr. Charles Ochei, State Commissioner for Science and Technology; Dr. Daniel Odinigwe Odigie, the State Chief Job and Wealth Creation Officer, Comrade Ifeanyi Egwunyenga, immediate past Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Kevin Okwechime, a Chieftain of the Party, Chief Ifeanyi Eze, Chief Peter Okonkwo, the Woman Leader of the Party in the Area, Hon Nkem Ogbechie, and the Youth Leader, Hon Richard Anonyai.
A chieftain of the Party in the area, Barrister Tony Nwaokwu, and the Senior Special Assistant to the State Governor, Comrade Roy Umunna were also among the delegation.
Late Chief Victor Egbune, three times Chairman of the Party in Aniocha North Local Government Area, died on Friday, April 19, 2024, after a protracted illness.
The Party Leaders were also at the Oligbo Royal Palace where they met and condoled the Traditional Ruler of Issele-Uku, His Royal Majesty, Agbogidi Obi Nduka and the entire people of Issele-Uku
Speaking on behalf of the Party, Chief Benjamin Elue expressed the heartfelt condolences of the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, the entire leadership of the Party in the State and in Aniocha North Local Government Area as well as the entire PDP family in the State.
The former Deputy Governor described Chief Victor Egbune as a great man of peace and of the People, saying he will continue to be remembered for his immense contribution to the political development of Aniocha North and the State in general.
Chief Elue sued for peace among the Children before, during and after the burial of their late Father, noting that as children who have lived to love their father, no doubt they will miss and mourn him, saying that however, as children of God they should mourn as those who have trust and hope in God.
He said the late Chief Victor Egbune lived a good life and left behind many legacies amongst which is the legacy of a good name which he said will be of immense benefit to the Children.
Chief Elue assured that the Party will participate actively in the burial of their late Father and said the contributions of Chief Victor Egbune towards the development of the party in Aniocha North and the State as a whole will not be in vain.
Also condoling with the traditional ruler of Issele-Uku and the People of the community at the Oligbo Royal Palace, Chief Elue on behalf of the Leaders noted that even when late Chief Victor Egbune was very valuable to the Political system in the State, he was no doubt a great asset to the traditional institution even in the Oligbo Royal Palace, Issele-Uku where he was a committed traditional chief.
Responding, the traditional ruler of Issele-Uku, His Royal Majesty, Agbogidi Obi Nduka expressed delight over the visit and said the caliber of persons in the delegation speaks volumes of how valuable the late Chief Victor Egbune was to the Political system in the State and in Aniocha North Local Government Area.
“Let me also inform you that the way you valued our son is the way the Palace and the people of Issele-Uku valued him,” the traditional ruler said.
He urged the delegation not to relent in their efforts towards immortalizing his name, and in helping to accord him a befitting burial.
Until his demise, the late Chief Victor Egbune was the Executive Secretary, Aniocha North Local Education Authority, Issele-Uku.
