The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State has unanimously endorsed a decision to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwore, former Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, and other key stakeholders in the state.

The decision was made on Thursday, April 24, 2025, during an enlarged meeting of leaders and stakeholders held at the Aniocha North Local Government Skills and Multiple Purpose Hall in Issele-Uku.

The meeting was attended by various government officials, party leaders, and stakeholders.

Former Deputy Governor Chief Benjamin Elue, PDP BoT member, Chief Nkem Okwuofu, Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon Engr Emeka Nwaobi, as well as the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bazim Chinye briefed the gathering on the decision to defect to APC, citing the need for political realignment and development in Delta State.

After deliberation, the house unanimously supported the motion to join APC, with Hon. Dr. Jaunty Okwudi moving the motion and Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza seconding it.

Notably, immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu who was instrumental in the Wednesday Asaba decision, was unavoidably absent at the Issele-Uku meeting due to his mother’s 97th birthday celebration held the same day in Lagos.

However, the meeting was attended by other prominent figures, including the Chairman of the Party in the area, Dr. Charles Ochei, Commissioners, Special Advisers, other appointees of the State Government as well as Local Government elected and appointed officials.

Also at the meeting included other Executive Members of the PDP in the area that included ward Chairmen and Secretaries.

The leaders and stakeholders of the PDP in Aniocha North also agreed to mobilize party members to attend the formal declaration of Governor Oborevwori’s membership in APC on Monday, April 28, in Asaba.

The PDP leaders in Aniocha North believe that joining APC will promote development in Delta State and support Governor Oborevwori’s initiatives.

The formal declaration on Monday is expected to draw large crowds as party members and supporters gather to show their support for the new development.
