Oshimili South PDP Leaders Brainstorm On The Way Forward For The Party

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oshimili South local government area have been urged to ensure stability and unity of the party in their various wards

The LGA leader of the party, Chief Edwin Uzor, made the call at a well attended meeting of the leaders to discuss the way forward for the party ahead of future elections in the area.

Chief Uzor called on the attendees to identify aggrieved members in their wards and speak to them in a manner that they would appreciate the need to remain with PDP and work towards the success of the party.

Chief Uzor also addressed the issue of defection and suggested that party leaders should ensure that their various wards were intact and well positioned to emerge victorious in future elections, adding that one way to achieve success was to call regular leadership and general meetings especially at ward level.

Some of the leaders who spoke at the meeting, include Hon. Izuka Okolo, Ogbueshi Tajudeen Isichei, Hon. Sunny Obi, among others, raised various concerns such as side lining, lack of succession plan for growth, empowerment, reward for loyalty and giving back to the masses as major issues that needed to be addressed within the LGA.

Pastor Greatman Chukwuka, Hon. Izuka Okolo and Hon. Olisa Onyeka called for calm and stressed the need for time to resolve any lingering issue affecting the party.

Also speaking, the State Treasurer of the party, Ogbueshi Chibuzor Uwaje, called for measures to resolve issues within the LGA, suggesting that the leadership meeting should be held regularly in order to plan ahead of the next general election.

At the end of the remarks by all who spoke, with particular reference to issues raised by Ogbueshi Tajudeen Isichei about ward 5, Chief Edwin Uzor assured the leaders that all complains would be looked into and properly addressed, insisting that PDP remained one big family with internal mechanism for resolving issues as they arise.

The highlight of the meeting was the passing of a vote of confidence on the leadership of Chief Edwin Uzor in the LGA, following a motion moved by Ogbueshi Tajudeen Isichei, which was seconded by the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, High Chief Dr. Darlington Ijeh, and unanimously adopted to the delight of all leaders present.

The meeting was adjourned to a date to be made known.
