Oshimili North Security: Council Boss Presents Security Vehicles to Okpanam, Ugbolu, Atuma-Iga By Chijioke Ugbolue

The Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government in Delta State, Hon. Louis Ndukwe in line with his administration’s commitment to the security of the area, has again presented three sienna security vehicles to three Communities for security surveillance in their various communities.
Okpanam, Ugbolu and Atuma-Iga were the communities presented with the security vehicles on Tuesday 27th October, 2020, at the Oshimili North Local Government Council Secretariat, Akwukwu-Igbo, the administrative headquarters of the Local Government area.

The official presentation of the vehicles to the communities brings it to a total of 13 security vehicles donated to the police and various communities in Oshimili North Local Government Area by the Hon. Louis Ndukwe led administration for the purpose of security surveillance.
The brief, but impressive event was witnessed by the Head of Personnel Management of the Council, Lady Blessing Bielonwu represented by the Deputy Director, Administration, Mrs. Teresa Diokpala, the Council Accountant, Victor Ilide, the Divisional Police Officer, Akwukwu-Igbo Division, CSP Toby Dekaba, Head of Works Department, Engr. Mrs. Esther Mordi and Head of Environment Department of the Council, Mrs. Nwabudike as well as representatives of the three benefiting communities amongst others

Speaking at the event, Hon. Louis Ndukwe said that his administration has been able to carve a niche for the Local Government Area as it concerns security, adding that the Local Government under his leadership has ensured peace, unity and progress of the area.
“Protection of Lives and property as connoted in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has been our cardinal objectives. That has been our primary function; preserving lives and property. To the glory of God, I think to a very large extent, we have been able to pursue that to a reasonable and appreciable level,” the Council boss said, even as he noted that with the Local Government Executive Order II, the council area has been relatively peaceful.

Hon Ndukwe said that the presentation of the vehicles to the three communities is almost going to be the last phase, stressing that security package for Ukala-Okwuti and Aninwalo communities are being address already by the Local Government, even as he said, “we have made a firm promise to Akwukwu-Igbo Police Division because the first Sienna vehicles given to them were retrieved by the then Commissioner of Police.
“Akwukwu-Igbo is the Administrative headquarters, there is no way we can finish this exercise without replacing those two vehicles for effective policing and vigilante activities in our various communities,” Ndukwe assured.

The Council Boss also admonished the communities to endervour to put the vehicles into proper use and said that the intention of the Local Government in presenting the security vehicles to all the communities in the area was for it to be used in the fight against crime and criminal elements.
“All Commanders in whose palms we have given these keys to these vehicles, must take it that this is not a pleasure vehicle, it is not for pleasure. The moment you are in this vehicle, your life is at risk. So don’t say, I am going to the Church with my family with any of this Vehicle. I am asking you to chase crime with these vehicles. I know with the anointing on this vehicle any criminal element fighting this vehicle will head to the bush,” he stated and prayed that God in his mercy will always guide and protect the Vigilante commanders and their members as they work with the vehicles for the security of the area.

In his remark, the Akwukwu-Igbo Divisional Police Officer, DPO, CSP Toby Dekaba commended the Executive Chairman for his commitment in the security and peace of the area while describing him as a security friendly local Government chairman.
The DPO also appreciated the council boss, for affecting the perimeter fencing of the Police divisional headquarters in Akwukwu-Igbo even as he reminded the users of the Security vehicles on the need to fight crime with it, noting that the vehicles were specifically designed for crime fighting and not meant for personal use.

In their separate votes of thanks, the representatives of Okpanam, Ugbolu and Atuma-Iga communities expressed their appreciation to the Executive Chairman and management of the Oshimili North Local Government Council for the presentation of the Vehicles and assured that they would be put into proper use for the benefit of their various communities and the Local Government area as a whole.
It will be recall that some of the communities in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State have been a flash spot for criminal elements, but with the Executive Order 11 from the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Louis Ndukwe early this year, the issue of everyday suspected Fulani incursion and attacks has long been head in the area.
