Okwuofu, Nwaobi, Chinye, Ochei Lead Aniocha North To Appreciate Oborevwori, Ask For More, As Aguriavwodo Convokes Town Hall Meeting In Issele-Uku.

A town hall meeting in the instance of the Senior Political Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Senator Emmanuel Aguriavwodo has been held in Issele-Uku, the headquarters of Aniocha North Local Government Area.

The meeting, held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at the Aniocha North Local Government Skills Acquisition and Multi-Purpose Event Centre was hosted by the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Basim Chinye.

It was attended by the Majority Leader and Member Representing Aniocha North State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Engr. Emeka Emmanuel Nwaobi, Matriarch of Delta Politics, Chief Nkem Okwuofu, Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Emma Bazim Chinye, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the area, Dr. Charles Ochei and the Representative of the State in the South South Executive Committee of the Party; Dr. Chuks Nwaebuni.

Also at the event were the State Commissioner for information; Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, State Commissioner for Science and Technology Dr. Daniel Odinigwe Odigie, as well as the Special Adviser to the State Governor; Hon. Chuks Ojei.

Executive Assistants to the Governor on Political Matters; Hon. Dr. Jaunty Okwudi, Hon. Engr. Fidel Onwodi, Hon. Jossy Honnah, Comrade Norbert Chiazor and the State Chief Job and Wealth Creation Officer; Comrade Ifeanyi Egwunyenga, Chief of Staff in the Office of the Senator Representing Delta North in the Senate; Dr. Michael Nwoko, other top Government and Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in the area were also in attendance at the Town Hall Meeting.

In his opening remarks, the Senior Political Adviser to the State Governor, Senator Emmanuel Aguriavwodo said the Town Hall Meeting was in line with the Governor’s resolve to involve the people in the Governance of the State.

He maintained that People’s inclusiveness through feedback mechanisms remains the key to effective and proactive Governance.

“The government cannot work effectively without the input of the people. Sometimes, we think that the Government knows everything, but that is not true; Government does not know it all.

“The People are members of the Government at any level. As members of the ruling Party, you have the responsibility of speaking out and telling the Governor possible needs and problems and the Governor being a listing leader, sees it and takes action immediately, hence the need for adequate information and feedback from the People.”

He described the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori as a fearless, firm and proactive leader who wants the best for the people of the State.

“I want to listen to all your requests, note them down and make sure that the Governor gets them, with a view to including them in this year’s budget and present them to the State House of Assembly. I know, it will be passed through the help of the Majority Leader.”

At the interactive session of the Town Hall Meeting, leaders of the Local Government Area that included, Chief Nkem Okwuofu, Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi, PhD, Hon. Emma Bazim Chinye and Dr. Charles Ochei lead others to appreciate the State Governor for all that his administration has done for the people of Aniocha North.

They particularly appreciated the Governor for awarding the Issele-Asagba-Utulu road and various Political appointments and empowerment that have been extended to the people of Aniocha North.

They however, articulated the pressing challenges and need of the area to include; the construction of the Obomkpa-Ugboba- Ubulubu Road, Onicha-Olona- Ezi-Ukala- Illah Road, NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Road, reactivation of Delta State Leather and Taxile factory located in Issele-Uku, Construction of Issele-Asagba – Asaba road, inclusiveness of former aspirants in the governance of the State and more political appointments and empowerment for the People of the area.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Emma Basim Chinye said the Local Government Area and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area remains peaceful, loving and united in their resolve in appreciating the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori for what he has been doing for the people of Aniocha North and the State as a whole.

Hon Chinye in the same vein, asked for more Political appointments and empowerment of the People of the area most especially, those he noted has sacrificed for the PDP over the years.

“His Excellency has done a lot for us, but we still need more.

“We need more appointments for our people. We know he is capable of doing it, he has all it takes to empower our people.

“We know he has done three in each of the 10 wards, but we still need more. There are a lot of Men, women and Youths that have sacrificed a lot for the Party that needed to be empowered through political appointments. It will strengthen them to do more for the party.”

The Council boss, emphasized that Aniocha North remains fully PDP with the harvest of members of the opposition Parties in the area and assured that the Local Government Area will continue to deliver for the party at all times.

Hon. Chinye appreciated the People of the area for their unwavering support and encouragement for the State Government and assured that more Gains will continue to come to them, even as he restated his administration’s resolve, in consonance with his vision of rebuilding Aniocha North, to commence people oriented projects in every community in the Council area.

“We have started to rebuild Aniocha North and it will continue, nothing will stop it by the grace of God. I want to assure you on behalf of my vice, that in conjunction with the Councillors, members of the Executive Council and the Civil Servants, we will work in synergy, in love and in unity to commence the execution of projects in your various communities.

“The move is to put a mark in each of the 18 communities in Aniocha North with a view to attesting to the fact that there is indeed a Government in Aniocha North. Every Community in this area must feel the impact of our administration,” the Council assured.

Responding, the Senior Political Adviser, Senator Emmanuel Aguriavwodo, described the proceedings at the Town Hall Meeting as a family one and democracy in action, saying that, “this feedback mechanism is very important for good Governance.

“All the contributions are very important. There is none that is frivolous because it came from the heart of the people that spoke.

“It shows that the people of Aniocha North love the Party and will continue to support the Party.”

The Senior Political Adviser, commended the unity of purpose of members and leaders of the PDP in the Local Government Area and said the Governor would continue to be happy with the People of Aniocha North describing them as wonderful People.

He assured collating every submission, one after the other while highlighting the construction of Obomkpa-Ugboba-Ubulubu road, Onicha-Olona – Ezi-Ukala-Illah Road, the repair of the failed potion of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Road Issele-Uku and the reactivation of the Delta State leather and textile facility at Issele-Uku as topmost needs of the People, even as he affirmed Political appointment and empowerment of the People as very dear to the heart of the State Governor.

“I can assure you that His Excellency the Governor will attend to what I am going to present to him to show that he is a listing Governor,” the Senior Political Adviser said.
