The People of Ogbe, one of the eight quarters in Ute-okpu Community in Ika North East Local Government area of Delta State, has resolved to sustain effort toward the development of their quarter.
The resolution, which was unanimous, was taken during the annual conference of the Ogbe Development Union, O.D.U., held on Saturday 2nd January, 2021 at the Community hall, Ogbe.
Over eighty sons and daughters of the quarter attended the conference that had the Head of the quarter, Diopka Nduka Emefiele, Okpanran of Ogbe also in attendance.
In his address at the conference, the President of Ogbe Development Union, O.D.U., Hon Samson Nwenearisi commended the people for their steadfastness in the development of the quarter and called on them not to relent in their efforts, saying that much is yet to be done for the quarter in the New Year.
Hon Nwenearisi who is a Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta state on political matters, tabled critical matters that have to do with the development of the community for deliberation at the conference.
The matters included the renovation of the community hall, construction of new streets within the quarter, revenue generation, youth development and unity among sons and daughters of the quarter.
The conference deliberated extensively on the matters presented by the O.D.U president and came up with a far reaching resolutions, to among other things, work towards the comprehensive renovation of the Community hall to be financed through donations from sons and daughters of the Community, continuation with the construction of new streets already embarked upon, however they agreed that formal approval should be gotten from the Local Government Council.
In youth development, it was also agreed that the Community while working to sustain the existing unity among them, parents should encourage their children to choose a better part in life, noting that it becomes difficult for a youth to be assisted when such a person did not go to school or learn a skill.
On government presence, It was also resolved that when flowers and street lights were planted in Ute-Okpu as well as new streets constructed in various quarters by government, Ogbe quarter was left out , hence the need for them to speak in one voice with a view to remanding the government that the quarter is still part of Ute-Okpu.
It was also resolved that sons and daughters of the community should come home and build houses in Ogbe as part of development of the quarter.
While an illustrious son at the conference pledged to empower five youths of the Community, about one million one hundred and ninety five thousand naira, #1,195,00.00, geared towards sustenance of the developmental projects in Ogbe, was realized through donations by sons and daughters of the quarter who were present at the conference.
Also at the conference included; Dr. Edward Ogboi, lecturer Delta State polytechnic, ozoro, DSP Ignatius Okafor of Anambra State Police Command, Mr. Geoff Uti, a secondary school principal in the state, Mr Dennis Igbedion , a banker and Mr. Shadrach Igbedion, a renowned businessman and Mr. Chukwuekwu Okonta , internal Auditor Oshimili South Local Government of the state and also the Secretary of Ogbe Development Union, O.D.U.
Chief Oseh Andrew, a.k.a Abela, the Okibali of Ute-Ogbe, Mr Chinedu Onyemanke, youth chairman of Ute-ogbe, Mr Mathew Obi, Mr Igbedion, Chief Patrick Ochei, Arum of Ogbe, Ezinna simon Igbedion, and Madam Ebegbulem were also amongst the dignitaries in attendance at the conference.
