The Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ochor C. Ochor has admonished members of Ukwuani Legislative Arm to be good Ambassadors of the people they represent as councillors.
The Deputy Speaker, who is also the member representing the Ukwuani State Constituency, stated this Tuesday, March 15 2022, when he addressed the councilors who were at the State Assembly as guest to observe the days legislative activity at the Assembly Chamber, Asaba.
He noted that they are the closest to the people of the local government at the grassroots, and the people look up to them to represent them and ensure their needs are always looked into through their legislative duties.
“I implore you to be good Ambassadors of the people in our communities, knowing that you were elected to represent this people at a very local level, so that the workings of government can get to them.”
Speaking further he called for collaboration between the State Assembly and the council Legislative Arm, as both are involved in law making for the good of the people they represent, promising to make a programme that will deepen their legislative duties soonest.
“We as law makers have to work closely. We are charged to make laws and edicts for the good of our people, on this we must understand the enormous of our place in a democratic and representative settings.”
“To deepen this, I will work to put together a training workshop, which will be focused on advancing your legislative duties. He said.
The councilors were led by the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Clarus Osaeligor, also have the clerk of the legislative Arm in attendance.
