A total of Two Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty One members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, deployed to Delta State for the 2021 Batch A Stream II National Orientation programme, were on Friday 7th June, 2021, passed out with the conclusion of their three weeks orientation course.
The State Coordinator, NYSC, Delta State, Mrs. Olutayo Samuel performed the parade review and declared the programme closed in a low-key ceremony at the State Permanent Orientation Camp, Issele-Uku in Aniocha North Local Government Area of the State.
Declaring the programme closed, the State Coordinator expressed delight over the successful completion of the orientation course, noting that despite the fact that COVID-19 took away all the shine and glamour associated with the closing ceremony, there was the need to appreciate the Lord God Almighty who she said, has been their source of inspiration on Camp.
Mrs. Samuel said that the activities of the orientation course offered the Corps Members, the opportunity to acquire leadership skills, the spirit of perseverance as well as endurance, required towards subduing challenges during the service year and beyond.
“It is heartening to report that management is quite satisfied with the degree of their responsiveness to training and the high level of cooperation with their instructors. I can boldly state that this batch of Corps Members have shown commitment, dedication, determination and patriotic zeal to serve and impact in all the nooks and crannies of Delta State,” She stated.
She said even when the programme was regimented, it was purposeful and full of fun, disclosing that Corps Members were exposed to leadership training, lectures, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development, financial inclusion and various funding options, drills, Covid-19 awareness, inoculation and social activities to ease off the stress from the daily activities.
While reminding them of their posting to various places of primary assignment within Delta State, the NYSC State Coordinator urged the Corps Members to impact positively, in consonance with the motto of NYSC, “Service and Humility”, saying that they should at all times carry out their duties effectively without prejudice.
“Always see yourself as a unifying factor and be patriotic at all times. You must not let your guard down and should always take your personal security to heart. I also implore you to put to practice all you have learnt in the SAED classes so you can augment your allowance, become self-reliant and employers of labour during and after your service year,” she admonished.
She commended the Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for his relentless support to the NYSC Scheme in the State and said that his administration has helped in no small measure in moving forward its activities in different dimensions “I wish to use this medium to heartily congratulate His Excellency on the occasion of the 6th Year Anniversary of his goal oriented administration.
“In the same vein, I wish to congratulate Chief Patrick Ukah on his appointment as the Secretary to the State Government, who also doubles as Chairman, NYSC Delta State Governing Board,” Mrs. Samuel said, even as she appreciated all the collaborating agencies that contributed to the success story of the orientation course.
Highpoints at the ceremony included; review of parade by the State Coordinator, Mrs. Olutayo Samuel and march past by the corps members marking the closing of the ceremony.
