The Orientation Camp of the National Youth Service Corps in Issele-Uku, Aniocha North local government area of Delta State, was today, Friday 21st May, 2021, agog with celebration over the birth of a baby in Camp by a corps member.
The baby was born yesterday, Thursday 20th May, 2021, and both the mother and child were looking healthy during the swearing-in ceremony of the Batch A Stream 2 of the 2021 corps members deployed to Delta for the mandatory national youth service.
The Director in charge of NYSC South-South Area office, Mr. Abdulrasheed Sanusi was elated and prayed that the child becomes a true product of honour for national good and service.
The State Coordinator, Mrs. Olutayo Samuel said the birth of the child was significant and would hold lots of memory going forward.
She thanked God for safe delivery while praying for the child to become great in life and one that would continually make history in life.
Samuel commended the Delta State Government for the magnificent upgrade of the Orientation Camp, adding that the Issele-Uku Camp is well equipped with facilities that can take care of any emergency, including delivering babies by corps members who came to Camp pregnant.
The mother of the child, Helen Kume appreciated the NYSC for being a care giving and lovable organisation put in place to transform lives.
She thanked the State Coordinator for her motherly care, the camp officials and colleague corps members for being there for her, insisting that the Camp is more than home to her.
She affirmed that when the baby is eventually given a name, there must be something about her to remember Mrs. Olutayo Samuel.
