The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has flagged off a training program for Small Stock Goat production for unemployment youths and women in Delta-State.
At the orientation/flag off ceremony of the program held on Monday, September 13, 2023 at the Aniocha North Local Government Council Multipurpose Skills Acquisition Centre, Issele-uku, in Aniocha North Local Area of the State, the NDE Director of Rural Employment Promotions Department, Mr. Edem Duke, stated that the rising rate of unemployment amongst youths and the multidimensional poverty ravaging the country, necessitated the training of the youths and women in order to build their capacity in agricultural Skills.
He added that a capacity in small stock goat production can help to improve the livelihoods of people and said the training scheme introduced by the NDE will impact positively on the unemployed youths with innovative skills which will play an important role in the socio-economic development of the farming community.
Duke noted that there are great potentials in goat production business such as more income and food sufficiency, saying that jobs opportunities will be created and rural-urban migration reduced.
The NDE Director congratulated the beneficiaries of the training and advised they take the training seriously by obeying the ground rules of the training and ensure that they equipped themselves with enough knowledge and skills necessary for the running of goat production business even as he informed the guests and participants at the flag off ceremony that the Director-General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo and his management has approved the implementation of the training in Eleven (11) states of the federation including Delta-State and the FCT.
Mr. Edem Duke, on behalf of the NDE appreciated the Delta State Government for the support and cooperations given to the Directorate in all their activities in the state and equally thanked the Executive Chairman of Aniocha-North Local Government Council, Hon. Kevin Okwechime for providing access to the Multipurpose Skills Acquisition Centre , venue for the training.
