The Labour Party (LP) in South-South has written off the 100 days in office of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State as lacking spark of governance.
South-South Chairman of Labour Party, Chief Tony Ezeagwu handed down the verdict while answering questions asked him to assess the 100 days in office of Governor Oborevwori.
He told reporters: “As far as I am concerned, there’s nothing to be excited about because the governor has given nothing tangible on ground and so nothing to show for his administration’s 100 days.”
Chief Ezeagwu said all that can be noticed is that the governor has been visiting places, but “we have not seen anything tangible in terms of governance.”
“What is on the ground is what Okowa left behind. There’s no new thing. He has been visiting places without governance. Visiting is not governance; he should engage himself in actual governance,” Ezeagwu said.
He said the Federal Government has provided N5 billion to the state for palliatives, but in Delta State we have not seen anything being distributed.
“I traveled recently and saw Taraba State moving trailer loads of items meant for palliatives for the people of that state. In Delta State have you seen anything that is being showcased as palliative? Where is it being distributed?, Ezeagwu asked.
He said he expected that Governor Oborevwori would have done something immediately to cushion the harsh effect of transportation cost by buying and putting some buses on the roads to ply strategic routes to towns and villages for the people.
“I agree that 100 days is not enough to do much, but if he had done some roads and bought buses to put on the roads it would have reduced the high transport cost currently being experienced by the people, that would have been very good,” Ezeagwu said.
