The Inspector General Police, IGP,has ordered a full scale investigation into the purported stripping naked of four staff of Signatious Hotel staff, a hotel owned by former minister of state for education, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi in Warri, Delta state.
In a telephone conversation, Frank Mba, Force Public Relations Officer on Friday evening, confirmed that a full scale investigation has been ordered by the police high command to determine the facts and issues surrounding the matter.
The issues surrounding the hotel have been trending for the past few days whereby many lawyers and activists have waded in and calls are being made for women lawyers and National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) to join their voice to the plight of the women who are in the centre of the allegation.
For the past few days, Kenneth Gbagi has been under the heat of the issues and consequent upon this, the police have decided to come in and investigate the facts in the matter.
“An investigation is an elaborate process, an investigation may at certain stage require that an arrest be made or someone be invited into the station or that certain property or properties or certain location or certain scene of crime be searched or condoned.
“So, it will not be right to say specifically that IG has ordered his arrest. The right thing to say is that IG has ordered an investigation into the whole scenario, we want to find out if it is indeed; is it true? Is that allegation true?
“If it is true, how did the perpetrators carry out the act? And who and who are the persons that participated in the whole act or in the whole episode?
“So, investigation is a holistic thing and we are approaching it holistically with an open mind.
“The IGP has equally appealed to citizens to calm down and give the police sufficient time and sufficient support to ensure that we are able to get to the root of the matter and discreet the truth from what is probably half-truth or what is not true,” the force PRO stated
