Residents of Umueze Street in Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State have been assured of the state government’s determination towards the full completion of the ongoing construction of their road soon.
The member representing Aniocha North State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi, who attracted the project to his people gave the assurance on Monday while on an oversight visit to the project site.
He stressed that the road project which he noted to be a road that would impact directly on residents, would be completed before the full return of the rain, saying that the lockdown occasioned by the COVID-19 slowed down the pace of work on the Project.
Nwaobi, however commended the Contractor for returning fully to site with the easing of the lockdown, and said that the pace and quality of work so far was commendable, even as he called on him not to relent in ensuring that the noble intention of the Delta State Government in making life easy for residents of the street was realized by early completion of the project.
He commended the Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for approving the construction of the road and said that despite the negative effect of the covid-19 lockdown on the budget of the state, the Governor had graciously allowed the project to continue.
Speaking to newsmen at the project site at Issele-Uku, the site engineer, Engr. Ben Nwazuaku attested to the fact that effort was on towards ensuring the early completion of the project and in line with the contractual specifications.
He said that the project which is a 405 metres road with two side drains measuring 810 metres with 100 metres discharge at the Idumuje-Unor end of the road, is at the advanced stage, saying that the earth work had been done, construction of the drains ongoing at a comfortable pace and assured that after the construction of the two side drains in a few days, the entire length of the road would be cleared preparatory for the commencement of stone basing.
Engr. Ben Nwazuaku noted that despite the delay occasioned by the covid-19 lockdown, he was optimistic that the project would be delivered by the middle of June, even as he commended the people of Issele-Uku for being worthy host, supporting the construction of the road project.
Also in an interview with some residents, they commended the member representing Aniocha North State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Engr. Nwaobi for attracting the road project and said that his representation had brought about transformation of Aniocha North Local Government Area.
