The Issele-Mkpitime Federal Union, the umbrella body for the development of Issele-Mkpitime in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, has hosted and distributed cash and food items to the vigilante group in the Community.
The gesture was in appreciation of the gallant efforts of the members of the vigilante group in curbing insecurity in the community last year.
The Federal Union also gathered and hosted widows in the community as a way of celebrating the New Year with them.
Each of the vigilante group members was given a bag of 10kg rice, 1.4lts of groundnut oil and ten thousand naira.
Each of the widows equally received a bag of 10kg rice, tins of tomatoes, packs of salt and other spices, while two cows were slaughtered and shared among them.
The event held at the country home of the President General, (PG) of IMFU, Mr. Oge Okwuka, was attended by over 50 members of Issele-Mkpitime Vigilante Group led by their Chairman, Mr. Dada Akpado, as well as over 100 widows drawn from the 10 quarters in the Community.
The event, presided by the PG was witnessed by members of the Central Executive Committee of the Federal Union.
Speaking at the impressive gathering, the President General, Issele-Mkpitime Federal Union, Mr. Oge Okwuka said that the event was an opportunity for the people of Issele-Mkpitime, through the IMFU, to show gratitude to members of the Vigilante group for their dogged efforts in securing life and property in the community, noting that their untiring commitment to the security of the community has brought about peace and development in Issele-Mkpitime.
Okwuka urged them not to relent in the enormous task of sustaining and surpassing the achievement recorded last year in the area of curbing insecurity and criminality in the community.
He said that the people of Issele-Mkpitime will continue to support and hold them in high esteem as much as they will continue to do their work diligently in line with ethical standards.
“For our mothers, the people of Issele-Mkpitime are happy that God in his mercy has continued to sustain and keep you all alive to see the new year.
“We have come to celebrate with you and to let you know that as long as God lives, you will continue to be his wives and he will continue to provide and care for you,” the PG said.
He commended an anonymous illustrious son of the community who he revealed sponsored the cash and gift items, saying that Issele-Mkpitime as a community is blessed with people who had made the development of the community their top priority.
While praying for the anonymous personality that donated the cash for the purchase of all the gift items and cash presentations, Mr. Okwuka appreciated all sons and daughters of the community for the unity of purpose that has brought about uncommon development to the town and said that the Executive committee of the IMFU under his leadership will continue to do the needful towards effective mobilization of the people for continued peace, progress and unity of Issele-Mkpitime.
