Head of Personnel Management of Aniocha South Local Government Council, Delta State, Mr. Joseph Akpodiete has posited that optimal performance of information officers at any level of Governance, is hinged on the proper implementation of thought-out, people oriented policies and actions by the Government at any level.
He maintained that information officers, especially those in the Local Government councils, have the potential to work effectively in an environment where the Chief Executives of Councils comes in with people oriented vision which is formulated into people oriented policies and implemented regularly within available resources, to the benefit of the people.
Mr. Akpodiete spoke on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, while playing host to Executives and Members of NUJ, Local Government Information officers Chapel who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Ogwushi-uku, the administrative headquarters of Aniocha South Local Government area.
The HPM noted that Information Officers in Aniocha South Local Government Council have continued to perform optimally basically for the fact that the Hon. Jude Chukwuwike led administration in the Council has remained relentless in the implementation of thought-out people oriented projects and programmes in the council area.
“There is no community in this Local Government area that you will not see the footprint of the present administration led by our amiable and charismatic Executive Chairman. Even in the Council premises here, his work is very glaring,”
He maintained that the Hon. Chukwuwike led administration has continued to perform in all sector, be it in Education through renovation and construction of classroom blocks, environmental cleanliness, building and maintenance of Markets, opening of roads and linking of various communities, Solar street lights even within the Council premises, renovation of various buildings in the council premises, reconstruction of the Council Chairman’s Lodge with well paved internal roads, construction and equipping of Council Chapel, provision of Solar street lights even within the Council Secretariat.
While commending the Chairman of the Council, Hon. Chukwuwike for always meeting his statutory obligations to the workers of the Councils, as well as seeing to their welfare, the Council Head of Personnel Management appreciated the Information Officers of the Council for not relenting in projecting the policies, actions and programmes of the Local Government, saying that the officials have been effective and efficient in the performance of their duties.
Earlier, Chairman, NUJ Local Government Information Officers Chapel, Comrade Ikpibako Shepherd had told the HPM that the Chapel, composed of Information managers in the 25 local Government Councils in the State, were in Aniocha South Local Government Council for their first quarterly meeting.
He commended the Executive Chairman of the Council and the Management for carrying the information officers along in the management of the Council, saying that the function of information officers in the formulation and dissemination of Government policies and activities cannot be overemphasized.
Ikpibako expressed delight on the excellent performance of the Hon Jude Chukwuwike led administration in Aniocha South Local Government area and said the Council Chairman has remained a reference point in effective Local Government administration, even as he commended the robust working relationship between the Management and the Executive Chairman.
The Secretary to the Local Government (SLG) accompanied by the HPM, Mr. Joseph Akpodiete and the Council Treasurer, later took the Local Government Information Managers on a guided tour of some of the people oriented projects executed by the Hon. Jude Chukwuwike led administration in Aniocha South Local Government area.
