It was joy unspeakable on Thursday, 24th December, 2020, for a Physically Challenged PDP faithful, Mr Sunday Achemunor of Ezi, in Aniocha North Local Government area of Delta State, when the State Chairman of Waste Management Board, Hon. Emmanuel Chinye, commissioned and handed over a three bedroom flat he built for the loyal party man.
Mr. Sunday Achemunor, aka Bulldozer of Politics, has been a die-hard supporter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for over 20 years, without a house to call his own until Hon. Emma Chinye came to the rescue through providence.
The brief but impressive occasion was witnessed by the wife and children of Hon. Emma Chinye, the former chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Sir S.P.C. Aniamaka, two former Chairmen of the PDP in Aniocha North, Prince Andy Offor and Chief Nnamdi Mohayem, as well as the former Youth Leader of the Party in the Area, Mr Tony Inogbo
Also at the joyous event were some political appointees of the Delta State Governor from Aniocha North including; Chief Augustine Modungwo; Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters, Mr. Owen Debie Junior; Senior Special Assistant on Orientation, Hon. Ndubuisi Osemene; Special Assistant on Waste Management, Prince Nwoko; Special Assistant on Waterways Security, amongst others.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Emma Chinye said that the occasion was to reward faithfulness and loyalty, affirming that Mr. Sunday Achamunor has continued to be a committed, loyal and faithful member of the PDP, even with his physical challenges.
Hon. Chinye who is a grassroots dogged politician, said that he was challenged to commit his resource towards building the House for Mr Achemunor when he entrusted the sum of one million naira he made after the 2019 PDP primaries to him, Hon.Emma Chinye, requesting him to use it to build a house for him.
The former commissioner in the state attributed the foundation of the building to the Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who he noted made it possible for him to nominate Mr, Sunday Achemunor as a physically challenged person to be made one of the delegates in that year’s Party primaries.
“It was after the primaries that ‘Bulldozer’ (Mr. Sunday Achemunor) gave me the sum of 1.2million naira and said I should use it to build a house for him and I told him that they don’t use 1.2 million naira to build a house. He insisted that any how I will do it, I should do it for him to get a house of his own and I was indeed challenged.
“I gave him the 200k and asked him to use it to take care of himself, while I held on to the One Million Naira. Immediately, I called an architect to design and cost a three bedroom flat for me and that is what you are seeing here today,” Hon. Emma Chinye narrated.
“That is why I said that the Governor is the foundation of this building, because if not for what the Governor did, this house would not have been possible. I will always give glory to who glory is due,” he stated.
The Delta State waste Management Boss, said that the initial cost of the three bedroom flat was put at 3.8million, however, before it was fully completed with furnishings such as; set of leather settee, television set and ceiling fans, they ended up spending far more than was budgeted to the glory of God, adding that the gathering was to celebrate faithfulness and commitment as well as using it as an encouragement to other people, “that it is always good and rewarding to be faithful, loyal and committed to be a politician at all levels”.
The three bedrooms flat was later commissioned by the Wife of Hon Emma Chinye, Mrs. M. Chinye, thereafter, the keys were formally handed over to Mr. Sunday Achemunor aka Bulldozer who opened the door and led the guests into the apartment where prayers were said by the Chairman of CAN, Aniocha North, Rev. Fr. Innocent Chimkamagwa assisted by the Parish priest of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Ezi, Rev. Fr. Jude Okwudi,
In his vote of thanks on behalf of Mr. Sunday Achemunor, the elder brother, Mr John Achemunor thanked God for using Hon. Emma Chinye to put in place a befitting house for his brother and prayed that God will continue to bless and keep him for God’s own glory.
