I received with heavy heart and immense sadness, the shattering news of the passing of our highly revered father, His Royal Majesty, Obi Prof. Chike Edozien, the Asagba of Asaba.
My heart bleeds. The Asaba Kingdom, our dear State, Delta, our nation, Nigeria and indeed humanity have lost a transcendental torchbearer and cyclopedic source of wisdom and inspiration in all virtues; honesty, diligence, industry, accommodation and peaceful coexistence for which our people are known.
His Majesty was an epitome of light, a living legend and Icon, who defied impermanence, bestrode this realm like a Colossus and with penetrating virtuosity and unmatched leadership stamina carved indelible legacies on the rock of history.
Asagba lived as an incorruptible personality, who with great genius on the throne, touched many lives and led our people through the path of righteousness, peace, love, development and propagation of our rich cultural heritage in all aspects of life
Though we grieve at this moment, I draw solace in the fact that His Majesty lives on. His legacies remain evergreen in our hearts and for generations yet unborn as we will never forget his intellectual and leadership qualities that paved the way for development in different facets of human endeavours, especially in the fields of medicine, academic and the Traditional Institution.
On behalf of my beloved wife and the entire Elumelu family, our hearts and prayers continue to go out for our dear Mother; the wife and jewel of the Asagba, his lovely children and the entire Asaba kingdom as we pray to the Almighty God to console and give all of us the grace and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
