The old rivalry between Edo and Delta State is being rekindled at the ongoing Edo 2020 National sports festival as the two teams are locked in a battle Royal for supremacy on the medals table.
Team Delta who are the defending champions and currently topping the medals table will have to contend with host Edo for the top spot.
Right from day one of the games, Delta has left no one in doubt about their determination to retain the Crown.
Team Delta has 15 gold,7 silver and 4 bronze and are closely followed by Bayelsa with 12 gold,6 silver and 4 bronze while Edo has 3 gold,11 silver and 11 bronze medals to maintain the top three.
It will be recalled that Team Delta has been promised one million naira for each gold medal to spur them to podium performance.
Team FCT,Zamfara and Taraba are yet to get a single medal.
Meanwhile, the Local Organising Committee, LOC are threatening to end the games for lack of funds.
The Federal Government is yet to redeem its pledge to support the host state with funds.
