A Special thanksgiving service was on Tuesday 1st June, 2021 held to mark the 60th birth anniversary of the wife of the Governor of Delta State, Dame Edith Okowa.
The thanksgiving service which took place at the Government House Chapel Asaba was attended by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the wives of the Governors of Abia, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, Akwa-Ibom Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel, Mrs Monica Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and the wife of the state Deputy Governor, Mrs Ebierin Otuaro as well as the wife of the former Governor of Oyo State, Mrs Florence Ajimobi.
Also in attendance were the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, Hon Victor Nwokolo, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and his wife Tobore, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Christopher Ochor – Ochor and other members of the House, the Head of Service and Functioning Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Reginald Bayoko, top government officials, family members, friends and well wishers of the celebrant among others.
In a sermon, the Bishop of Ika Diocese, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev’d Godfrey Ekpenisi described Dame Edith Okowa as a God fearing woman that has helped her husband achieve set goals in governance.
Bishop Ekpenisi who noted that Diamond Jubilee was worth celebrating, called on the celebrant to redouble efforts in using the remaining years of her life for the service of God and humanity.
He reminded her and the congregation of the need to uphold distinction and excellence, discipline, service and commitment, humility, praise, prayer, and love to affect lives positively.
Bishop Ekpenisi said Dame Okowa had used her position to touch lives and advised her not to relent.
The cleric also commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his development efforts in the state and enjoined him to continue to put his trust in God.

s 31 to 39 was read by the celebrant, Dame Edith Okowa.
Highpoint of the service was a special thanksgiving to God by Dame Edith, accompanied by her husband Governor Okowa, children, Grand children, family members and guests.
Reception was later held for guests at the Event Centre Asaba.
