Easter: Stay at Home, Oshimili North Council Boss Urges citizens, Says ban on Religious Gathering still in Force.

The Executive Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government in Delta State, Hon. Louis Ndukwe has called on the people of the Area to continue to comply with the Stay-at-Home order of the State Government as they celebrate the Death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In his Easter message to the people, Hon Ndukwe said that Jesus Christ is the reason for the season and they should do everything within their capacity to stay at home as they mark the auspicious occasion in prayers and supplication to God Almighty.

The council boss maintained that total and sincere compliance to the stay at  home order, despite the occasion of Easter, which he noted remains an important event in Christendom, will help greatly in curtailing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state.

“My message to the beloved people of Oshimili North is that everybody should stay at home and observe their Easter, because the social distancing directive is still continuous and remains the key to curbing the spread of this pandemic.

“Our Lord Jesus Christ is the reason for Easter and for His Sake and for the peace and good health of our people, let us observe the social distancing, let us at best remain at home and do our worship and pray for the Local Government area, for the State and for the Country.

“Let this be a sober moment for us as we do everything within our capacity to stay at home and mark the auspicious occasion in prayers and supplication to God Almighty, for the sake of the same Jesus Christ who gave his life for the sins of mankind and the peace and good heath of the people.

“Even the Catholic Pontiff has spoken in this direction that we should continue to stay at home, because the Pandemic is spreading like wide fire. What we are seeing in Rome is so devastating and disheartening.

“So let us all stay home and ensure that this disease does not go viral in our country and our state, because if it does, we are going to be in trouble here. If what is happening in Spain, Italy, and the United States of America happens here, I don’t think any person is going to survive.  It is better this social distancing is maintained and everybody stays at home. I know that God Almighty is aware of our present predicament and he will surely see us through,” the Council Boss assured.

Hon. Ndukwe also revealed that the Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has not in any way lifted the ban on social or religious gathering and called on the people of Oshimili North to disregard any information in that regard.

“Following the confirmation of the third case of Covid-19 in Delta State, His Excellency has stated categorically that all Christians should worship at home on Easter Sunday and the lockdown is still very much in full force.

“His Excellency the Governor has not lifted the ban on social or religious gathering and has directed that the Police should arrest any person who disobeys the directive on religious or social gathering so nobody should break the order” Hon. Ndukwe admonished.
