Delta State Government has assured traditional rulers in the state that it will continue to work closely with them in order to strengthen the traditional institutions.
The Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, made this known in Issele-Uku at the palace of His Royal Majesty, Agbogidi, Obi Nduka, the Obi of Issele-Uku, during his 5th coronation anniversary and birthday celebration.
Governor Okowa, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, stated that the role of traditional rulers in the state cannot be overemphasized.
He said their wise counsel on issues of governance in the state had helped him a lot and this has contributed immensely in achieving his Stronger Delta vision for the state.
The Governor congratulated the Monarch on his 5th coronation anniversary and birthday celebration and also on his appointment as a member of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council.
Earlier, the Obi of Issele-Uku thanked the governor for his support and cooperation over the years and for appointing him into the State’s Traditional Rulers Council as a member.
The Monarch said because of the unity that exists in his kingdom, Issele-Uku have witnessed a lot more developments in the last five years.
He equally stated that this unity of purpose had led to many laudable projects in the community such as restoration of public electricity, food bank initiative to the people during the COVID-19 pandemic, hospital revival projects and medical outreach missions, amongst others.
He thanked his subjects for contributing their time, talents and treasures to see to the success of projects in the kingdom.
Highlight of the event was the commissioning of the new palace hall by His Royal Majesty, Obi Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor II, the Obi of Owa Kingdom and the cutting of the birthday cake by His Royal Majesty, Obi Agbogidi Obi Nduka and the wife, supported by the Governor’s representatives and other dignitaries.
