The Delta State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its State Congress scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Cenotaph in Asaba.
The event is set to commence at 10:00 AM, with delegates and aspirants for various offices expected to be seated by 9:00 AM.
In a statement released by the State Secretary of the PDP, Engr. Dan Ossai, the party outlined the categories of delegates eligible to participate in the congress. These include the Governor and Deputy Governor of Delta State, former Governors and their Deputies, serving and former members of the Board of Trustees (BOT), members of the State Executive Committee, and serving and former members of the National and Zonal Executive Committees.
Also expected at the congress are serving members of the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA) and former principal officers of the DTHA, Local Government Council Chairmen and Vice Chairmen, as well as all Local Government Party Executive Members. The list also includes National Assembly and Delta State House of Assembly candidates from the last general election, three ward delegates, and former State Working Committee members.
The statement emphasized that all delegates must still hold active membership within the party to participate in the congress.
Engr. Ossai concluded the statement with a call for unity and commitment, echoing the party’s slogan, “PDP! Power to the People!”
The upcoming congress is seen as a crucial event in the political calendar of the Delta State PDP, setting the stage for the party’s future direction as it prepares for upcoming political challenges.
