State President of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employee, NULGE Delta State, High Comrade Ziko Okwudi has celebrated women members of the Union in the State, describing them as critical stakeholders of the Union.
Comrade Okwudi spoke on Friday, August 17, 2023 at the rotational meeting of NULGE Women Chairpersons Forums held at the Aniocha North Local Government Council NULGE Event Centre in Issele-Uku.
The meeting hosted by the Aniocha North Local Government Council NULGE Women Chairperson, Comrade Florence Chiejine was attended by NULGE Women Chairpersons from the 25 Local Government Councils in Delta State led by the State Chairman, NULGE Women Chairpersons Forum, Comrade Mrs Rita Tobor.
Chairman, NULGE, Aniocha North Local Government Council, Comrade Collins Ogwugwua led members of his executives to the meeting that was witnessed by the Head of Personnel Management of the Council, Mr. Bertrend Ojeh.
Okwudi who was at the Meeting as the Special Guest of Honour and accompanied by some members of the NULGE State Executive Council, said he was at the meeting to felicitate and rejoice with the women, noting that regular meetings remain critical for the progress of any organization.
He appreciated them for their loyalty and for being part of his success story in the just concluded State NULGE Congress, where the entire executives were returned unopposed.
While urging the women to extend the same love and loyalty to their local branch Chairmen, Comrade Okwudi said progress in the union can only be achieved in an atmosphere free of rancour and bitterness.
The State NULGE Boss, also poured praises and appreciations on the Head of Personnel Management of the council, Mr. Bertrend Ojeh for his support and cooperation with the branch Union, which he said has in no small measure enabled the Union to make tangible progress.
Comrade Okwudi wished the Forum fruitful deliberations and assured that the State NULGE Executives under his leadership would take the union to another level of glory where welfare of the Local Government workers in the State will continue to be top priority.
Welcoming the State NULGE President and others to the meeting, the State Chairman, NULGE Women Chairpersons Forum, Comrade Mrs Rita Tobor said they were in Issele-Uku for their regular rotational meetings where issues pertaining to the progress of the Labour union are tabled and discussed.
Comrade Mrs Tobor, who is also the NULGE Chairperson, Udu Local Government Council, congratulated the State NULGE President and members of his Executive Council for their victory at the just concluded 8 quadrennial conference of the Union and said that their return unopposed was a clear attestation of their proactive and efficient leadership of the Union.
Mrs Tobor pledged the continuous support and cooperation of NULGE Women to the leadership of the State President in its resolve in taking the Union to another level of prosperity where welfare of the entire members will continue to be top agenda.
In his goodwill message, Aniocha North NULGE Chairman, Comrade Collins Ogwugwua, commended the NULGE Chairpersons for their commitment in the affairs of the Union, even as he appreciated the cooperation he has continued to enjoy from Comrade Florence Chiejine, Aniocha North Chapter women Chairperson.
Comrade Ogwugwua called on the Chairpersons to emulate Comrade Chiejine in their relationship with their various NULGE branch Chairmen, maintaining that only such relationship can bring about peace and tranquility, which will translate into greater good for the workers they are elected to represent.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Aniocha North Chapter Women Chairperson, Comrade Florence Chiejine, had welcomed the State NULGE Chairpersons Forum to the Local Government Council for the rotational meeting.
While congratulating the State NULGE President, Comrade Ziko Okwudi and members of his Executive over their election unopposed, Comrade Chiejine appreciated the State President and the NULGE branch Chairman in Aniocha North, Comrade Collins Ogwugwua for their support and fatherly role being played to the Women in the Council, even as she pledged the unalloyed support of the women to their leadership in the State and the Local Government Council.
The high point of the meeting included; cultural dance and old school music presentation by the women of Aniocha North Local branch as well as presentation of gift items to the most dedicated and punctual members of staff by Comrade Florence Chiejine, who said that the idea of the gift awards was to motivate punctuality and commitment to duty by members of the Union.
