Delta Local Government Service Commission Reaffirms Commitment to Training Council Officials

The Delta State Local Government Service Commission has reiterated its dedication to training and retraining staff of the Unified Local Government Service.

Chairman Hon. Dcn Joseph Otirhue made this affirmation during a seminar organized for 175 top management staff, emphasizing that training is a top priority and duty of the Commission.

Otirhue highlighted the Commission’s strategic approach to training, designing workshops to eliminate low turnouts by bringing seminars closer to the various senatorial districts in the state.

He emphasized the importance of promoting a culture of fiscal responsibility and discipline in local governments, leading to efficient and effective service delivery to citizens.

The Commission’s mission, according to Otirhue, is to cultivate a professionally groomed and ethically sound workforce to drive and implement policies and programs that benefit communities.

The Commission Chairman encouraged participants to take the training seriously, apply their newfound knowledge, and share it with their subordinates and colleagues.

Participants praised the Commission for organizing the workshop, promising to put their learnings into practice.

Seasoned resource persons, including Dr. Philip Agbeyeke, Chief Dr. Efe Okonoko, and Auditor General Local Government, Mr. Ikenna Ukpaka, led sessions on topics such as internal revenue generation, efficiency, and fiscal discipline in local government administration.
