The newly inaugurated Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government Council, Hon. Kevin Okwechime, has formally resumed office, with the affairs of the Local Government handed over to him.
Head of Personnel Management of the Council, Dr. Mrs Patricia Dede, handed over to the Executive Chairman on Tuesday, 9th March, 2021, in a brief, but impressive ceremony at the Chairman’s office in Issele-Uku, the administrative headquarters of the Local Government Area.
The Chairman, supported by the Vice-Chairman, Hon. Princess Tina Amuamuziam, used the opportunity of the event, , to perform his first assignment, by pronouncing the appointment of the Secretary to the Local Government, SLG and the Special Adviser, SA, to the Chairman.
Hon. Okwechime, named a former Councillour in the Local Government, Hon Uche Chiejene as the SLG and a renowned politician in the Area, Mr Kiakenechukwu Okolie as the Special Adviser.
In line with the relevant enabling laws, the appointment of the Secretary to the Local Government in Delta State is subject to the approval of the State House of Assembly.
The Chairman also at the event, announced Monday, 15th March, 2021, as the date for the proclamation and inauguration of the Legislative Arm of Aniocha North Local Government.
He commended the Head of Personnel Management, Dr. Dede, for being proactive in the running of the affairs of the council, saying that she has performed creditably well in the short period she was in charge, even as he appreciated the management and staff of the council for joining forces with the HPM, who before now, acted as the Chairman of the Local Government, in bringing about serenity and sanity, in the council premises.
Hon. Okwechime called for the support and cooperation of the Management and Staff of the Council towards delivering the policies and actions of his administration, ensuring that the entire political class will work in cordiality with the civil servants in the Council, to move Aniocha North Local Government Area forward.
While handing over her notes, The HPM, Dr Mrs. Patricia Dede, congratulated the Chairman and his Vice on their victory at the just concluded Local Government election and affirmed that God has destined them to be where they have found themselves.
“What God has written, he has written. You are destined to be here, that is why you are here today. All glory we give to God Almighty.
“You are not a newcomer to the government of Aniocha North, and we thank God you have worked here before as the number three man. My prayer is that God will use you to make this place a better place.
“I came here 7th of January, 2021. I am barely two months in this council. I met the hand over note of the previous administration which was handed over to me. I am handing the document to you along with my brief note.
“Aniocha North Local Government Area is blessed with 17 communities and 15 gazetted Obis. We have some challenges. In revenue allocation we are the least. I have prayed to God that we are going to be the first by the time we are done, because you are going to make things to charge.
“We have some litigation which is written in the notes. We have been able to solve some through dialogue, some are still ongoing. By the time you go through the handover notes and with my constant briefing on your request, you will understand,” Dr. Mrs Dede assured.
The Event was also witnessed by the newly appointed SLG; Hon. Uche Chiejene, the Special Adviser to the Chairman, Mr. Kiakenechukwu Okolie Hon. Eziunor Eric Ekene and the NULGE Chairman of the Council, Comrade Collins Ogwugwua amongst others.
