Delta State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Hon. Daniel Odinigwe Odigie was at Obomkpa on a surprise visit to the traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty, Obi Onyemaechi Josiah Kanyinaga I, Obi of Obomkpa.
Hon. Odinigwe who exhibited a classical display of high regard and respect for the traditional institution at the surprise visit, was at the Palace of the traditional ruler on Sunday to felicitate and rejoice with the Monarch on the marking of the New Yam Festival in the kingdom.
Hon. Odinigwe accompanied by a large crowd of fans and supporters, was received and accorded a rousing welcome by the Obi and members of the Obi-In-Council of Obomkpa, which included the Esama; Chief Dr Chiazor Emmanuel kpomafe, the Ozoma; Chief Ben Iweunoegbunem Anazia, the Omu; Her Royal Highness Ifechukwude Uzoka amongst others.
Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Hon. Kevin Okwechime, State Publicity Secretary PDP, Delta State, Dr. Michael Osuoza, leader of the legislative Arm of Aniocha North, Hon. Jude Okonkwor, former Special Assistant on Political Matters to the former Governor of the State; Hon. Alex Ajumuka, and former Special Assistant to the former Speaker of the State House of Assembly; Mr. Ben Anazia, also joined the Honourable Commissioner on the visit.
Speaking at the brief, but colourful event, Hon. Daniel Odinigwe said he was at the Palace to appreciate and pay his allegiance to his traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty, Obi Josiah Kanyinaga I, and to felicitate him on the New Yam festival that commenced the traditional New Year in the kingdom of Obomkpa.
“Your Majesty, I have to come to sincerely appreciate you for your prayers and for your coming for my swearing in as a member of the State Executive Council and Honourable Commissioner. You were there at the event centre and at the venue for my reception.
“As a renowned traditional Ruler, Your Royal Majesty is a highly busy Man and for you to come and stay for over two hours, it meant a great lot to me. I appreciate your Royal Majesty’s Royal gestures.
“Again, it is the beginning of a new tradition year in our kingdom with the New Yam festival, I have come to felicitate with you and members of your esteemed traditional Council. It is very normal that I do this as an honour and deep regard for Your Royal Majesty and the tradition of my people,” he said.
The Honourable Commissioner, extended the felicitations of the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to the Obi and the people of Obomkpa and said the State Government under the leadership of the Governor, is set to do more for the people of the state.
“I urge Deltans to be patient, we will always do more. Our Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, his mantra is MORE, whatever we saw in the last administration, we will see more this time, but we need to be patient.
“Nothing is going to be rushed; everything will go through the normal due process and procedure. But what we can assure you is that we will definitely do more. We have continued from where His Excellency Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa stopped and it can only get better, it will never get less.
“That is why our mantra for this government is MORE and we know that His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori will do a lot more, in terms of meaningful development, opportunity for all, realistic reforms, enhanced peace and security,’ Odinigwe stated.
His Royal Majesty, Obi Onyemaechi Josiah Kanyinaga I, who was visibly elated at the surprise visit, commended the Honourable Commissioner for his commitment and avid regard to the traditional institution, describing him as a true Son of Obomkpa.
He congratulated Hon. Odinigwe on his appointment as the Commissioner for Science and Technology and expressed his belief in his ability to uphold the tenacity and success that his family is known for, in the discharge of his duties as a member of the State Executive Council, with the State as his Constituency.
While appreciating the Governor for finding the Son of Obomkpa kingdom worthy for an appointment as a Commissioner, Obi Josiah Kanyinaga congratulated the Governor on his 100 days in office and pledged the unalloyed support and cooperation of the Obomkpa kingdom with the state Governor in the realization of his MORE mantra to the overall benefit of Deltans.
The traditional ruler prayed for the Governor and the Honorable commissioner and on behalf of the Obi-in-Council of Obomkpa kingdom, surprisingly conferred on Hon. Daniel Odinigwe Odigie, the highly respected traditional Chieftaincy title of Omeruora of Obomkpa kingdom.
Commenting on the visit in a chat with cshowcasenews.com, one of the Chieftains of the Community, Chief Ben Iweunoegbunem Anazia, the Ozoma of Obomkpa said the Obi of Obomkpa is a traditional ruler that appreciates efforts and commitment to community and stressed that in the midst of 18 communities in Aniocha North Local Government area, Obomkpa produced a commissioner.
He said when the Commissioner offered to visit the Traditional ruler, the Chiefs and red cap titled Men gladly presented themselves as a support to accord their beloved Son a rousing reception.
“To ensure that our beloved son and brother discharge his duties credibly well, His Royal Majesty prayed for him and bestowed on him the Chieftaincy title of Omeruora of Obomkpa and that indicates, not just as the son of the soil, but son of the soil who is committed to ensuring the progress of the community.
“Therefore, I can tell you for free that it was a successful outing; we are happy, impressed and the community is right behind him in all ramifications,” Chief Anazia said.
Also in his reaction, the Esama of Obomkpa, Chief Dr kpomafa Chiazor Emmanuel described the visit to the Obi as a show of great honour to the traditional ruler and the people of Obomkpa, even as he prayed to God to continue to guide the Honourable Commissioner towards success in the onerous task of the office of a commissioner in the State, even as he urged him to continue to do good which he noted him to be known for.
In her own reactions, the Omu of Obomkpa, His Royal Highness, Ifechukwude Uzoka, described the visit as awesome and commended the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for finding Hon. Daniel Odinigwe worthy for Commissioner in the State, even as she noted his appointment as a square peg in a sequel hole.
She expressed confidence in the ability of the Hon. Commissioner to deliver on the mandate as a commissioner and assured him of her continuous prayers as the spiritual mother of the Kingdom.
“I will use everything in the Land of Obomkpa that has been handed over to me to support my brother and son in prayers. To check him, watch his back and make sure there are no spiritual interferences.
“With the collective support of all of us; the support from home, the support from His Royal Majesty, Obi Onyemaechi Josiah Kanyinaga I, Obi of Obomkpa, and above all the support of God Almighty, Odinigwe will definitely excel in office,’ the spiritual mother assured.
Former Leader of the Legislative arm of the Local Government, Hon. Patrick Onochie, Special Adviser to the Executive Chairman of the local Government, Mr kaikenechukwu Okolie, Mrs moemeka, a former Special Assistant to the former Governor of the State and Hon Queen Ndubuokwu, Councillor ward 3, Obomkpa were also among dignitaries that accompanied the Honourable Commissioner to the visit.
