The death of the Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, Mallam Abba Kyari has been announced by the presidency.
In a statement early Saturday 18th April, 2020, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, stated that the late Abba Kyari died on Friday 17th April, 2020 as a result of health complications from Covid-19 infection.
The Statement reads:

CHIEF OF STAFF TO PRESIDENT, ABBA KYARI, PASSES ON
The Presidency regrets to announce the passage of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.
The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment. But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020.
May God accept his soul.
Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.
