The Member representing Aniocha North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi has donated hand sanitizers numbering 1000, hand gloves numbering 5000 and face masks numbering 750 to hospitals in Aniocha North.
Making the donation to the Medical Director in charge of Issele-Uku General Hospital for onward distribution to the three General Hospitals and 19 Primary Health Centres in the local government, Nwaobi affirmed that he had come to show concern to his constituents at this moment of difficulty.
According to Nwaobi, “I have come to donate these materials to our people in this difficult time.
“I have also come to preach the gospel of staying safe. I pray God grants us the needed protection from this Coronavirus pandemic.
“I am giving my own support to the hospitals in Aniocha North by providing these materials to be used for patients and people around as part of supporting the precautionary measures proffered by Government.
“It is my prayer that it doesn’t spread further than this. Therefore, I am advising our people to try to take precautionary measures as spelt out by Government”, Nwaobi stated.
Speaking further, the unique legislator advised his constituents to remain at home within the period set aside by Government to enable it bring the pandemic under control.
“Operate your businesses within the precinct of your homes. Wash your hands regularly, use the hand sanitizer and face masks to stay safe. If we keep these instructions and pray to God, we will curtail this Covid-19 in no distant time.
“So please, take these precautionary measures seriously; the Coronavirus pandemic is real. From the NCDC data, there is no case in Delta as at now. However, this is the more reason why we must keep the safety measures as instructed and intensify our prayers by asking God to intervene by bringing the scourge to an end.
“The Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa had already advised we stay at home during this period of lock down; and so I appeal we abide strictly by this.
“I am also aware that the Aniocha North Traditional Rulers met and decided to ban all forms of public gatherings, including burial and marriage ceremonies pending the period under review.
“I want to assure you that though it’s a difficult time, we must survive it. All we need is to adjust, get closer to God and by HIS grace we will beat both the virus and the accompanying hunger while staying at home”, Nwaobi affirmed.
Meanwhile, the Medical Director in charge of the General Hospital Issele-Uku, Dr. Hilary Onyekpe, was elated at such humanitarian gesture of Hon. Nwaobi and commended him for factoring his constituents in his programme at this moment of global Covid-19 pandemic.
He assured to judiciously distribute the materials to the benefitting hospitals and primary health centres, adding that it has become duty call on everybody, particularly medical personnel to fight for the curtailment of the Coronavirus epidemic.
