Covid-19: Issele-Uku Monarch Suspends Burial, Marriage Ceremonies For 30 Days

In view of the global Coronavirus pandemic, otherwise known as Covid-19 which is ravaging the world including Nigeria, the revered monarch of Issele-Uku Kingdom in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM Agbogidi Obi Nduka has directed for the suspension of all burial and marriage ceremonies in the town for a period of one month.

The traditional ruler took this decision after a health officer and matron of the Primary Health Centre Issele-Uku, Mrs. Nwachai took time to educate the Elders-in-Council (Izuani) and other critical groups in Issele-Uku on the Covid-19 and how to avoid it and stay safe.

Obi Nduka while briefing journalists after taking the decision at his palace, affirmed that this was the best decision to make under the prevailing circumstance for the benefit and safety of all.

He said that as the traditional ruler whose responsibility includes the welfare and security of the people and proffering solution to anything that could affect their health, he had decided that based on the contagious nature of the Covid-19, it was better to suspend all burials and marriages, including other activities that attract crowd for a period of 30 days.

The dynamic king equally advised the churches within the town to adhere strictly to the order of the Government to shut down their worship centres until the virus is brought under control or a cure found for it.
