Chief Nkem Okwuofu, a renowned Political leader in Delta State and Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, has called on Deltans to rally round Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Delta State Governor-Elect, as he takes over the mantle of leadership after the incumbent Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.
Chief Okwuofu spoke in an interview with Journalists on Wednesday, March 29th, after the issuance of Certificate of Return to the State Governor-Elect, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, His Deputy, Chief Monday Onyeme and 29 House of Assembly Members-Elect, by INEC in Asaba.
Okwuofu described Oborevwori as a great Man with the Call of God upon his life and said that all that he passed through after the primaries, as well as during the build up to the Gubernatorial Election, was a form of baptism preparing him for the job he is going for.
The renowned Political Leader, who was visibly overjoyed with the certification of the victory of the Party at the polls, said that the March 18, election was not taken for granted, even when it was obvious that the State remains the stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the Country.
Chief Okwuofu who is popularly address as the Mother of Government, (MOG), appreciated God for not allowing their efforts to be in vain and maintained that Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is God sent to the people of the State.
While congratulating the Governor-Elect, his Deputy and all the candidates of the Party for the overwhelming triumph and certification of their victory by the issuance of Certificates of return to them by INEC, Okwuofu commended Deltans for believing in Sheriff Oborevwori and the PDP, particularly those that stood by the Governor-elect from day one to the last minute, saying that what they passed through was a great lesson on the virtue of patience.
“I also will say a big thank you to those who were shaken in their faith,, but remained steadfast till the end. The positive outcome of the election is a big lesson to all of us. Patience, they say, is a virtue, but it is very complex and costly to maintain and so I plead with Deltans, the game has been played, somebody has won, but there is no victor; no vanquished.
“Let us rally round Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as our next Governor after Okowa, the way we did for Okowa or even more, because he preaches MORE. Let us give him more support so that he can do more for the State.
It is always the joy of the Father to see the son doing more than what he has done and that has always been the prayers of His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, our leader and amiable Governor of our dear State, Delta,” Okwuofu said.
Chief Okwuofu urged the opposition, particularly, the Candidate of the APC in the just concluded election, to be sportsmanly enough to reach out to Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who she described as a beloved brother to Omo-Agege, with open hands of embrace, admit defeat and congratulate him as the winner of the game, while pledging support to his government in the interest of sportsmanship and the State, saying that power belongs to the Lord God Almighty.
