The attention of the Federal government has been drawn to the activities of illegal Miners at the high power tension national grid in the ibusa road axis of Asaba.
The consultant to the Asagba of Asaba, Professor Chike Edozien, Ogbueshi Ofili Mordi in a statement on land matter described the approach by illegal miners as environmental unfriendly which have led to environment degradation., and have put the lives of the people in the community in dire danger.
Ogbueshi Mordi said the perpetrator behind the nefarious act is the Provost of the Federal Government College of Education Technical, Asaba, Professor Josephine Anene -Okeakwa who he alleged have encouraged the illegal Miner after collecting money from them and have remained adamant in changing the narratives.
“The Provost of the Federal College Technical, Asaba professor Josephine Anene -Okeakwa went as far as selling land right under the national power grid, which is a big threat to the nations power sector and economic development of the country,” the statement said.
The statement further urged the Federal government to check the action of the provost which if not properly address could result in erosion and loss of agricultural land, lives and properties of the students in the area while also demanding that Professor Anene produce documents which empowers her to give out the said land to the miners.
