The Anioma Delta Baptist Conference of the Nigerian Baptist Convention has held the third edition of its mini conference.
The mini conference hosted by the Obiaruku Baptist Association, was held on Saturday January 22, 2022, at Bethel Baptist Church, Obiaruku in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was presided over by the President and Spiritual leader of the Conference, the Rev’d Dr. Paul Anyasi.
Chairman of the Conference, Rev’d Monday Opene, the Vice Chairman, Rev’d Johnbull Atamhenwan, and other Executive members of the Conference that included the Moderators of Associations as well as the leadership of local Churches within the Conference were fully in attendance at the Mini Conference.
The Mini Conference of the Anioma Delta Baptist Conference is the Business session of their Main Annual Conference-In-Session which is billed for Thursday 17th through 20th February, 2022.
Presenting his report at the event, the Conference President, CP, the Rev’d Dr Paul Anyasi appreciated God for the gathering of his people and emphasized that the mini conference was initiated three years ago as the business session of the main Annual Conference-in-session where enough time is devoted to discussing and tackling pressing issues in the Conference.
Rev’d Anyasi said the mini conference which is held two weeks before the main annual Conference-in-session has become an avenue to ventilate and respond to issues agitating members of the Christian body with a view to informing them and carrying every one along in the running of the Conference affairs.
“We are doing this for you not to be misinformed. The only person that can inform you adequately is here and when we are through, you will be highly informed on what is happening in the Conference.
“The worst thing in running an organization is when somebody who does not understand the organization goes to discuss the organization behind. It has very terrible implications that can bring about setbacks.
“That is why we brought out the mini conference, so that we come together and you voice out your mind,” he stressed.
The CP also emphasized on the collective responsibilities of the Associations and the local Churches within the Conference and said that survival of the Conference absolutely depends on the sincerity of the local Churches in their remittances of what is due to the Conference.
“Our strength is in this capacity, that we have a collective will and if we explore our collective will , I think we can do better than what we are doing now.
“Anioma Delta Baptist Conference is our own, it does not belong to anyone. So, whatever you are doing, it is not because of Paul Anyasi, but because you have an institution that we have established for ourselves.
“Let us not create an institution and frustrate the institution at the same time. We are moving forward, and we can do it better,” the charismatic Baptist Senior Minister assured.
The Conference President, also challenged Christian parents on the urgent need to restore family values through sound moral teaching and upbringing of their Children.
He lamented the ugly happening among the young ones in the society and said it was as a result of moral decadence occasioned by the neglect of sound moral teaching by parents.
“Let us not throw away family values. Some of you here no longer do morning devotion in your families. Please restore family devotions and use it as a discipleship forum for your children.
“Teach moral values, let them understand that nobody hurries to last. It is not a crime to be poor, but the worst thing is when you are poor and you don’t have respect for yourself. All that glitters is not gold.
“Let us go back and restore moral values and our Country Nigeria will be better,” the Conference President pleaded.
Rev’d Anyasi also encouraged Pastors and their wives who has been called into the ministry in the Conference to learn one skill or the other with a view to being self dependent and not to be seen as a sort of burden to anyone or any of the Churches within the Conference, not minding the Churches economic status, saying that a way must be found to give answers to modern challenges.
In his devotional, Rev George Aniomi spoke on the theme of the Conference, “Kingdom People for Kingdom Project” and said that Kingdom people are those who have been chosen by God and those who have made the Lord God Almighty as their God and have put their trust in Him.
“Kingdom people are people that are peculiar, they are the people that have been chosen by God, they are the people who believe in Jesus Christ, they have their trust in Him and we are the one. We are the kingdom people and we are the chosen ones. We are Princes and Princesses. All Anioma Delta Baptist Conference are Kingdom people,” the Man of God posited.
Rev’d Aniomi posited further and said that people who are in the kingdom carry out Kingdom projects, saying that it is incumbent on kingdom people to participate in the planning, funding, implementation and execution of kingdom projects.
He said that having the desire and making the kingdom project a burden is the key needed to be an active participant in carrying out kingdom projects.
“As kingdom people, we have kingdom projects to carry out also.
“Kingdom projects are those projects executed by Kingdom people for God’s glory. They are projects, planned, funded, executed and dedicated for God’s use and glory,” he explained.
The erudite Baptist Minister reminded the Church Leaders at the event that as Kingdom people in Anioma Delta Baptist Conference, there are projects seeking to be executed in the Conference and said that all must come together in unity to accomplish the task which he noted would bring glory to the Lord God Almighty.
“There is a call for us to build our nascent Conference Secretariat; there is an urgent demand for us to do something in our Conference Land at Edo-Ogwashi. We must have a burden like Nehemiah, we must have the desire to take away the reproach and shame from the Conference.
“No matter what we preach, no matter what we do, until we have the desire and the burden, we may not be able to do anything for the kingdom,” he admonished.
He therefore called on all to come together with combined resources and efforts towards building with a view to establishing the glory of God in the Anioma Delta Baptist Conference.
Highlights included presentations of reports from other organs of the Conference, discussions and adoption of the CP report along with that of the various organs.
