Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Delta State, Hon. Kevin Okwechime said the Local Government has concluded arrangements for the massive opening of earth link roads within the area.
Speaking on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 in his office at Issele-Uku, Hon. Okwechime said that with the procurement of additional earth moving equipment, a grader and a truck, coupled with the bulldozer early procured three months ago, the Local Government is ready to move the equipment to communities where they are needed.
He said for effective performance, a special work committee under his direct supervision has been constituted to ensure the realization of his administration’s vision of making earth link roads within the council area passable and motorable for the people of the various communities.
The council boss revealed that the committee will work in conjunction with the various communities to identify critical roads that needed to be opened up and graded for easy communication amongst the communities, noting that the council has received calls from some of the communities requesting the assistance of the local Government in respect to the earth moving equipment.
“We are good to go now with the completion of the routine servicing of all the equipment. A special committee has been constituted with my Special Adviser as the Chairman. I will closely supervise the activities of the committee to ensure that our vision is realized.
“We are partnering with various communities towards opening the link roads. It is a massive responsibility, but with the cooperation of the Communities, we will be able to positively impact the lives of the people, especially as we enter the yuletide season.
“Aniocha North is blessed with good road networks and we want a situation where it will be very easy for residents to link any of the Communities within this area through these road networks,”Okwechime said.
Hon. Okwechime, also noted that arrangements are also on top gear towards clearing the road shoulders along the major roads linking all the communities in Aniocha North Local Government Area, revealing that the Local Government, for this same purpose will soon receive the delivery of a new Slather Machine.
The Chairman was of the view that with the clearing of the road shoulders, it will deter and curtail the activities of criminal elements that would want to operate, using the overgrown bushes along the road shoulders as a cover.
