A Female member of the Legislative Arm of Aniocha North Local Government in Delta State, Hon Chinyere Nkabu, has provided over one hundred pairs of School Uniforms free to the pupils of Kanidinma Primary School, Onicha-uku.
Hon. Chinyere Nkabu who is the Councillor for ward 4, Onicha-Uku, formally presented the School uniforms to the pupils in a brief, but impressive ceremony on Monday March 28, 2022 at the school premises, Onicha-Uku.
The female Councillor who was accompanied to the school by the Leader of the Legislative Arm of Aniocha North Local Government, Hon. Paul Chukwunwike Okonkwor and some of her colleagues, also presented a cash amount to the management of the school, to assist in the running of the primary school.
Presenting the materials, Hon. Chinyere said that it was part of her effort in helping parents meet the educational needs of their children and said that with the harsh economic situation in the country, it becomes extremely difficult for parents to meet the basic needs of their children.
She said that even when basic and secondary education is free in the state, some very poor parents could hardly afford school uniforms and other basic necessities for their Children in the primary school, and said that it was her observation when she visited the school immediately she became councilor for the ward.
“When I assumed this office as Councillor representing this ward, I took a walk around the school and I noticed that some pupils don’t have good uniforms, some are rough and some are wearing muftis, so I said no, this shouldn’t be taking place in my ward.
“So I took it upon myself and said I must get them uniform and today I have brought the Uniforms to distribute to them and as you can see, they are all very happy, they prayed for me and my prayer is for God to continue to give me the strength to continue to do this,” she stated.
Hon. Nkabu said the cash donation to the management of the School was a form of assistance towards running the school, and said that within the school there could be some items needed that the government might not be able to provide immediately and it becomes also her support to the Government who she noted cannot possibly provide everything for the School.
She appreciated the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu for transforming the entire Onicha-Uku Community in all areas and said that as her mentor, she is trying to follow his footsteps in charity and community development, even as she attested to the fact that Ndudi Elumelu’s efforts in community development remains indelible and cannot be equated.
In his remarks, the Leader of the Legislative Arm of the Government of Aniocha North, Hon. Okonkwor commended Hon. Nkabu for her humanitarian activities by way of enhancing education through the provision of free Uniforms to the pupils of Kanidaima Primary School.
“Her programme is worthy of commendation and to the glory of God, the Children will ever remain grateful, the same thing with the teachers and the parents as well. It is a very momentous gesture to uphold,” he affirmed.
Hon. Okonkwor therefore, urged the female Councillor to keep up with the good work and never relent in giving back to the people.
“Politics is all about giving back to the people what they gave to you and she has just exhibited that. The best way to make the people joyous is to give back to them what they have given to you by giving you the mandate to represent them and I think she has done perfectly well,” the leader said while urging other councillors in the Local Government to emulate her kind gestures.
In a chat with cshowcasenews.com, the headmistress of the School, Mrs. Oyeadika Joyce, expressed her appreciation to the councillor and avowed that her kind gesture will in no small measure help most of the pupils whose parents she noted seems not to be able to meet their demands even as she prayed God to continue to increase and order her footsteps.
Among her colleagues with her at the event included the Majority leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Ernest Azonuche Udoji, Hon Collins Azike, Hon. Philip Kawekwune, Hon. Hillary Okafor Onyeje and Hon. Solomon Ogwu.
The representatives of Onicha-Uku Progressive Union, Mr. Joseph Igbenoba and the Youth President of the Community, Comrade Michael was also with Hon. Chinyere Nkabu at the event.
Highpoint at the brief ceremony was presentation and sharing of the School Uniforms to the pupils by Hon. Chinyere Nkabu assisted by the Leader of the Legislative House and other of her colleagues, the representative of Onicha-Uku Progressive Union and the Community Youth President.
