Aniocha North Council Chairman, Okwechime Vows To Make Water Available To Constituents, As He Inspects Council Projects In Various Communities

Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Delta State, Hon. Kevin Okwechime has expressed his administration’s avid determination to make water readily available to the people of the area in their various communities.

Hon. Okwechime said that water supply being one of the major challenges of the people of the area during the dry season; it will be a thing of joy for them if the council will make the commodity readily available even in all seasons.

Okwechime spoke on Wednesday July 13, 2023 during an on the spot assessment of projects being executed by his administration across communities in the council area.

The Council Boss who was accompanied on the tour by the Leader of the Legislative Arm of the Local Government, Hon. Paul Chukwunwike, members of the Legislative Arm, Supervisors of the Local Government, Secretary to the Local Government and Special Adviser to the Chairman as well as other top Management staff of the council was at Idumu-Ogo, Obomkpa, Ugboba, Nkwu-Nzu, Ugbodu, Idumuje-Ugboko, Onicha-Ugbo and Issele-Uku.

Cshowcasenews.com reports that the projects inspected by the Chairman included; sinking of boreholes in Idumu-Ogo, Onich-Ugbo and Ugbodu where the Aniocha North Local Government in partnership with the Ugbodu community is providing water and reticulating it from the community boreholes to various fetching points in the community.

Perimeter fencing of the Obomkpa primary health care centre, the newly constructed Ugboba comprehensive primary health care centre, perimeter fencing of the premises housing the community town hall, primary health care centre, the customary court and the post office in Nkwu-Nzu, total tiling of the over 1000 sequel meters of the Idumuje-Ugboko cottage primary health care centre, total re-roofing of the entire Eke Market with over 16 blocks of open and lockup shops at Onich-Ugbo, were among the projects inspected by the Chairman.

The newly constructed Aniocha North Skills Acquisition Center/Multi-Purpose hall and the abandoned Aniocha North Comprehensive Water Scheme located in the council premises in Issele-Uku, the administrative headquarters of the local Government area were also inspected by the Chairmen and members of his entourage.

The Council Boss said that all is being done to ensure that the various water projects including the rehabilitation and reactivation of the Aniocha North Comprehensive Water Scheme in conjunction with other ongoing projects are ready for commissioning on or before September.

He maintained that the water projects had to be done by his administration with a view to alleviating the challenge of perennial scarcity of potable water supply for drinking and other uses prevalent in the various communities in Aniocha North Local Government area.

At Idumu-Ogo, the 750ft water project with 7.5 kva power generator has been done, waiting for the mounting of the 3000 gallons capacity stanchion which the base, as at the time of the project inspection has been in place and ready to take the installation of the stanchion, while the 3 kilometers water reticulation project within Ugbodu community was on course.

Work was ongoing at the site of the water project at Onich-Ugbo where commendable progress has been achieved by the contractor who was optimistic that the project will be delivered on time according to specifications.

Also at Onich-Ugbo, the Chairman was happy with the work done at the re-roofing of the over 16 blocks of open and lockup shops which has been fully completed, while at Ugboba, he was happy that the building of the new Primary Health Care Centre was also fully completed. Though work was still on at the underground water facility, directed by the council Chairman to be constructed with a view to acting as a source of water supply to the Health Care Centre.

At Obomkpa, the perimeter fencing of the Primary Health Care Centre has been completed while massive work was ongoing at the perimeter fencing of the premises housing the community town hall, primary health care centre, the customary court and the post office at Nkwu-Nzu, even the over 1000 sequel meters tiling of the comprehensive primary health care centre at Idumuje-Ugboko has also been completed as at the time he visited.

Hon. Okwechime finally inspected the Aniocha North Skills Acquisition Center/Multiple Purpose Hall and the abandoned Aniocha North Comprehensive Water Scheme, both located inside the premises of the Local Government Council.

The Council Boss expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done on the Aniocha North Skills Acquisition Center/Multi-purpose Hall, assuring that all the projects being executed by his administration are well thought out to have direct bearing on the well-being of the people of the Local Government area, even as he conveyed the optimism of inviting the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to Commission the projects.

At the various communities visited, the go locals expressed joy over the sighting of the projects in their communities, describing the Chairman as a silent performer who knows what the needs of the people are and goes about meeting them, even as they prayed for extra resources for him to continue to do more for the people.
