Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Delta State, Hon. Emma Bazim Chinye has inaugurated standing Committees for the maiden edition of the Aniocha North Chairman’s Cup.
The Committees were inaugurated on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at the Aniocha North Local Government Multi-Purpose and Skills Acquisition Centre, Issele-Uku.
Hon. Richard Anonyei was inaugurated as the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee with Mr. Frank Isiekwenemgbu, Supervisor for Youth and Sports as a Member and Mr Omesiete Raymond as Secretary of the Committee.Other members of the Local Organizing Committee Inaugurated include, Hon. Uzor Raphael, Hon. Ndubuisi Osemene, Hon. Isioma Chukwudi and Mr Ndubuisi Eziashi.
All the sub committees under the Local Organizing Committee were also commissioned by the Executive Chairman.
Inaugurating the Committees, Hon Chinye said the Aniocha North Chairman’s Cup is an annual football tournament instituted by his administration to be played among the 18 Communities in Aniocha North Local Government Area.
He said the tournament remains a critical component of his administration’s MORE GAINS mantra aimed at development and empowerment of the teeming youths of the Local Government Area through football competition.
Hon Chinye maintained that the Competition ultimately is geared towards talent hunt in football with a view to sponsoring every year, five discovered talents between the ages of 17 and 22 years, to pursue a career in professional football, in conjunction with a renowned International Football Academy, based in Germany, adding that the Local Government has since entered into partnership with the Football Academy.
The Executive Chairman warned against the use of enhancement drugs and urged the Youths to desist from any form of substance geared towards enhancement of their performance in sports.
Hon. Chinye, represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, SLG, Hon. Kennedy Okoh also at the event, unveiled, formally the Championship Cup and all other items for the football tournament, slated to be played between 6th to 22nd of December 2024.
The occasion also witnessed the officials of the Rules and Ethics Sub Committee under the leadership of Mr. Tony Ojei drew, successfully, the fixtures for the Matches that would be played in four centers within the Council area.
The four centers include; Onicha-Olona; Center 1, Issele-Uku; Center 4 Onicha-Ugbo; Center 3 and Idumu-Ogo; Center 2,
Onicha-Olona Centre 1 was drawn to have Issele-Uku, Idumuje-Ugboko, Issele-Asagba and Ukwu-Nzu playing at the center while Issele-Uku Centre 4, has been fixed for Onicha-Olona, Obior, Idumuje -Unor and Ubulubu/Ogodo.
The Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Clara Nneka Dibia, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon Uzor Raphael, the Deputy Leader, Hon. Frank Iweke as well as other members of the Legislative Arm of the Local Government were at the event.
Supervisors of the Local Government, the Special Adviser to the Executive Chairman, the Head of Personnel Management and the Treasurer to the Council as well as other top officials of the Local Government were at hand to witness the epoch making ceremony.
The Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for the maiden edition of the Chairman’s Cup, Hon. Richard Anonyei led members of the Standing Committees to the Ceremony where Members of the Aniocha North Sports Council, Members of the Aniocha North Coaches Association and President Generals from the various communities in the area came out in their numbers to witness the occasion.
