Agbamuche Family Donates Giant Freezer To Akwukwu-Igbo General Hospital To Mark Late Patriarch’s 104Th Posthumous Birthday 

As part of activities marking the 104th posthumous birthday of the former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, late Chief Michael Ashikodi Agbamuche, SAN, Nna Obodo of Akwukwu-Igbo (father of the community), the family has donated a giant Freezer worth Thousands of Naira to the Akwukwu-Igbo General Hospital in Oshimili North Local Government Area, Delta State

By this gesture, the Agbamuche family has once again demonstrated its commitment and dedication to creating an enabling environment for healthy living and fostering sustainable society.

This is in line with the vision of the revered late legal giant’s love for his community in particular and humanity in general.

There could not have been a better time than now to donate this Inverter Chest Freezer to Akwukwu-Igbo General Hospital.

As earlier stated, the family made the donation as a birthday gift to the hospital to aid the preservation of its vaccines, medications, and other medical materials with the required freezing temperatures for good healthcare delivery to the inhabitants of Akwukwu-Igbo and environs.

From every indication, this donation which was made possible by Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, the daughter of the departed legal luminary was warming received by the Chief Medical Director of Akwukwu-Igbo General Hospital, Dr. Frank Emayomi, represented by the Chief Pharmacist of the hospital, Pharm. Emmanuel Oduh resonated with the staff of the hospital and the entire community.

In her statement, Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, a legal practitioner said that the intervention in the healthcare sector in Akwukwu-Igbo at this particular time was to bridge the gap in equipment deficit in the hospital.

In her view, this is another avenue to provide access to good healthcare services to those at the grassroots.

Undoubtedly, this is a way of mitigating unnecessarily long distance travel to other health locations outside the community.

Chief Michael Ashikodi Agbamuche, SAN who was born on Monday, 16 August, 1920 and died Friday, 17 April, 1998 at the ripe age of 78, was well-known for his humanitarian activities, compassion, service to the nation and legal expertise.

The renowned lawyer who provided free legal services to indigent people also stood and fought ceaselessly for the less privileged throughout his lifetime.

Godfrey Chukwudifu Osakwe, a family member and a proud beneficiary of the Agbamuche goodness and generousity, said a mouthful during the presentation of the cold storage device to the hospital at Akwukwu-Igbo on Friday 16, August, said the donation was one of the many activities by his family and his many admirers across the world to immortalised him and celebrate the posthumous birthday of the iconic Diokpa Agbamuche, the father of modern Akwukwu-Igbo.

Osakwe urged the hospital management to make good use of the Chest freezer as requested from the Agbamuches during the needs assessment of the hospital.

“Diokpa Michael Ashikodi Agbamuche, was a great man of uncommon candour; a defender of the defenseless and a true warrior of Anioma nation, a great source of pride to Akwukwu-Igbo community and a man who lives in the hearts of those who came in contact with him.

“Everyone who knew Akwukwu-Igbo during his unforgettable era can attest to the orderliness, progress and peace his presence alone engendered among the people.

“To us, his fond memories will remain evergreen, and we shall continue to uphold and treasure his legacies of hope, service, love for community and humanity in general,” Osakwe said.

In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director, Akwukwu-Igbo General Hospital, Dr. Frank Emayomi, represented by the Chief Pharmacist of the hospital, Pharm. Emmanuel Oduh expressed gratitude to the family of late Chief Michael Ashikodi Agbamuche for their generosity and stressed the importance of such equipment to the hospital’s operations.

“No doubt, this will help us in no small measure to ensure the safety, potency and the quality of vaccines, drugs and other pharmaceutical materials before administering to our patients”

Extolling the virtues of late Chief Michael Ashikodi Agbamuche, a passionate community leader per excellence, Mr. Uche Ogbo, an Opinion Leader in Akwukwu-Igbo, noted that celebrating someone who worked so hard for the development of his community and the lives of people remain an honourable deeds, even at this difficult time in Nigeria.

Mr. Ugochukwu Nwanji, another Opinion Leader in the community, said that the late legal giant was in a class of its own during his life time.

“He was indeed, a great community leader and a father who contributed significantly to the growth of Akwukwu Igbo, and legal practice in Nigeria. And he remain the biggest motivator and contributor to the communal progress of Akwukwu-Igbo. And even in death he has continued to serve as the blazing fire that lights up the pathway through his children for others to follow.

“May the good Lord continue to rest his beautiful soul. Amen,” Nwanji prayed.
