Pray For Peace, Progress of the State, Okowa Tells Deltans

The Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, has called on Deltans to pray for the security and peace of the state.

Governor Okowa made the call in Asaba on Tuesday 22nd June, 2021 at the conclusion of the three-day fasting and prayer by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Delta State Chapter.

The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, commended CAN for organizing the special prayers for security and peaceful coexistence of Deltans.

Governor Okowa stated that the war against the enemies of the state, including fulani herdsmen, had already been won as the state had been dedicated in the hands of God.

He urged all to remain prayerful and entertain no fear, affirming that God would not allow the state to fall into the hands of the enemies.

The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Ika, Bishop Godfrey Ekpenisi in a sermon stated that no matter the situation, God would always make the difference as the state had been dedicated to God.

He assured the people that God would continue to fight for the state despite various challenges facing the state.

The wife of the state governor, Dame Edith Okowa, took the Bible reading taken from 2 Kings 19:1-20

Among the dignitaries that attended the ceremony was the wife of the Deputy Governor of the state, Engr. Ebierin Otuaro.

The ceremony featured songs and praises as well as special prayers for the security men, men of God, churches, the governor and members of his family, and also for the government and residents of the state.
