Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has inaugurated the State International Economic Summit Committees, with the immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu as Chair of the Main Organizing Committee.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo, Taraba State, bringing together eminent Nigerians to drive the state’s economic transformation.
Inaugurating the Committees, Governor Kefas emphasized his administration’s commitment to making Taraba State a top investment destination in Nigeria.
He highlighted the summit as a strategic platform to showcase the state’s abundant natural resources and investment potential and urged committee members to collaborate and deliver a world-class event, underscoring the importance of the International Economic Summit.
Responding on behalf of the Main Organizing Committee for the Economic Summit, Rt. Hon. Elumelu described his appointment as a great honor and emphasized the timeliness of the Economic Summit, given Nigeria’s current economic challenges.
He commended Governor Kefas for his visionary leadership, strategic investments, and efforts in creating a business-friendly environment.
Elumelu noted that Taraba State is an “investor’s heaven” and a “truly Nature’s Gift to The Nation” due to its abundant natural resources.
“Our committee envisions an International Investment Summit that will market the rich cultural values, breathtaking landscape of vast arable land and favorable climate for lucrative agro-businesses and alluring tourism opportunities, the prized solid mineral resources and the naturally endowed prospects in electricity production.
“The Summit will be marketing the intriguing home-grown technologies, stunning metallurgy, the valuable healing traditions and investment opportunities in mining, forestry, game reserves, housing, healthcare, education, water resources, fishery, roads, transportation, aviation, hospitality, industrialization among others.
“We are planning a Summit that effectively showcase the investment opportunities in the commercial production, value-added processing and marketing of cash crops including coffee, tea, groundnuts, cotton, maize, rice, sugarcane, gum arabic, sorghum, millet, cassava, yam as well as large scale livestock production activities in cattle, poultry, rabbit breeding, pig farming and fishery to the world.
“We must also showcase investment opportunities in the Mambilla Plateau Hydro-power generation, Gashaka-Gumti game reserves, the Ngel Nyaki Forest reserves, the Donga River Basin Forest, the Gotel Mountains and the opportunities in solid mineral including barytes, bauxites, graphite, limestone, gypsum, gold, uranium, kaoline among others,” Elumelu said.
Elumelu assured Governor Kefas and the people of Taraba State of the committee’s commitment and dedication to delivering a successful International Investment Summit.
The summit, billed for May in Jalingo is expected to attract top national and international players, driving economic growth and development in the state and the nation at large.
