Delta State Local Government Service Commission Vows To Uphold Public Procurement Law

The Chairman of the Delta State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Hon. Dcn. Joseph Otirhue, has assured the Public Procurement Commission that the LGSC is committed to upholding the public procurement law.

This assurance was given during a courtesy visit by the Director General of the Public Procurement Commission, Mr. Edwin Abraka and members of the Commission to the LGSC office in Asaba.

Hon. Otirhue expressed the LGSC’s readiness to collaborate with the Public Procurement Commission to achieve its goals, even as he stated that the Commission has organized training sessions on procurement and due process for local governments Council’s staff to ensure awareness and compliance with the law.

The Director General of the Public Procurement Commission, Mr. Abraka, emphasized the importance of sensitizing the LGSC on the procurement law enacted by the Delta State Government in 2020.

He highlighted the Commission’s role in harmonizing government policies and practices to ensure probity, accountability, and transparency in public procurement processes.

He itemized the Key Objectives of the Public Procurement Commission to include; ensuring transparency and accountability, promoting open and fair procurement processes, encouraging competition and cost-effectiveness, ensuring value for money in government procurement, fostering professionalism, building capacity and expertise in public procurement.

The LGSC and Public Procurement Commission are committed to working together to achieve these objectives and ensure that public procurement processes in Delta State are transparent, accountable, and effective.
