Idumuje-Ugboko in Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State, was filled with joy on Monday, February 17, 2025, as the State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori formally presented the Staff of Office to His Royal Majesty, Obi Chukunomso Oraeze Justin Nwoko IV, Obi of Idumuje-Ugboko.
The ceremony was attended by sons and daughters of Idumuje-Ugboko, both at home and abroad, who came out in large numbers to celebrate the epoch-making event. The Governor and his entourage received a rousing and commendable reception.
In his address, the Governor, represented by the State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, described the traditional institution as a priceless legacy in African society, serving as a rallying point for the people. He congratulated His Royal Majesty on his smooth ascension to the throne and assured the kingdom of inclusion in the state government’s sustainable development plans.
Oborevwori emphasized the importance of transparency, dialogue, and justice in the traditional institution, urging His Royal Majesty to encourage free flow of communication and consultations with all segments of the kingdom. He also appealed to the people to bestow honor on their ruler and assist him in his tasks.
Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Hon. Bazim Chinye, noted that the presentation of the Staff of Office has placed sufficient tools in the hands of the King to galvanize the town’s components.
While congratulating the People of Idumuje-Ugboko, Hon Chinye urged the people to prioritize community interest and rally around the Traditional Ruler for cohesion, progress, and development.
The President-General of the Idumuje-Ugboko Development Union, Dr. Christian Chiazor, thanked Governor Oborevwori for presenting the Staff of Office and for the state government’s infrastructure development efforts in Delta State.
Dignitaries in attendance included former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Benjamin Elue; Chief Nkem Okwuofu, Chairman of Rainoil, Dr. Gabriel Ugbechie; and members of the State House of Assembly that included the Majority Leader: Hon. Emeka Nwaobi, Members of the State Executive Council that included, Dr. Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza and Dr Daniel Odinigwe Odigie as well as Members of Aniocha North Traditional Rulers Committee.
