Dame Nkem Okwuofu, renowned Political Leader in Delta State, has congratulated Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on her Re-Appointment as Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Dr Okonjo-Iweala, the 7th Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, was first appointed as Director General on March 1st, 2021. She is from Ogwashi Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area, with the Mother hailing from Obomkpa in Aniocha North Local Government Area, both in Delta State.
Dame Okwuofu in a statement, described Okonjo-Iweala as a great woman with global reach, who has contributed immensely to the world economy.
Okwuofu applauded Iweala’s exceptional leadership of the WTO and said that her first term as the Director General, recorded a monumental achievement that saw the strengthening of the World Trade Organisation’s ability to support its members, thereby setting a forward-looking agenda for the international organization.
Dame Okwuofu, a member of the Delta State Advisory and Elders Council, appreciated the WTO General Council for re-appointing the renowned economist and international development expert for a second term as the Director General.
While congratulating her on behalf of the entire people of Obomkpa, Iweala’s maternal birthplace, and Delta State at large, Dame Okwuofu prayed to God to continue to strengthen Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, grant her good health and uncommon wisdom, as she concludes her first term and prepares to commence her second term in office, as the Director General of the WTO.
