The Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Reconstruction of Afor Ultra-Modern Market, Issele-Uku, in Aniocha North Local Government Area, has been performed.
The people oriented project is being carried out by the Aniocha North Local Government.
Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Emma Bazim Chinye performed the official Ground Breaking on Thursday, November 7, 2024, in a colourful ceremony attended by the former Deputy Governor of the State, Chief Benjamin Elue.
ANLG Vice Chairman, Hon. Nneka Dibia and other top officials of the Local Government, accompanied the Chairman to the event which was also witnessed by Chief Nkem Okwuofu, Chief Josephine kachikwu, Hon. Chief Krees Njiokwuemeni, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Area, Dr. Charles Ochei, as well as other notable leaders of the Local Government Area.
The traditional ruler of Issele-Uku, His Royal Majesty, Agbogidi Obi Nduka, MNSE, Obi of Issele-Uku also graced the occasion in his full royal compliments.
In his address, the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Emma Bazim Chinye said the commencement of reconstruction work on the Market was in keeping with his electioneering campaign promise to rebuild it for the massive economic growth of Aniocha North.
He hinted that the Modern Market which would be completed within a maximum period of four Months, has been designed to have 380 open market stalls, 130 lockup market shops, 2 warehouses, 2 Bank Cash Centers, 16 toilets facilities, 1 Omu shop, 1 Market administrative building, 2 gates and 2 security houses, 2 Motor Parks, 1 lorry park and a waste reservoir.
Hon Chinye appreciated and ascribed all glory to God for the enablement to commence in earnest the re-construction work on the Market and many other laudable projects and programmes within his Administration’s 100 days in office and noted them to be in consonance with his administration’s MORE GAINS mantra.
The council boss also appreciated eminent Indigenes of the Area and organizations who have, in one way or the other, encouraged and keyed into his administration’s vision of rebuilding Aniocha North, describing them as “worthy Partners in the Aniocha North Project”.
“Suffice it to say that the task of rebuilding Aniocha North is not the responsibility of the Local Government alone, but more of a clarion call on the citizenry to think of what you can do for the betterment of our dear Aniocha North.
“As a responsible Government, I want to reiterate our assurances that our resources will continue to be applied prudently and evenly to ensure that all the Wards in the Local Government Area get adequate and equitable attention”, Hon Chinye assured.
In his remark, former Deputy Governor of the State, Chief Benjamin Elue, commended the Council Chairman on behalf of Leaders and the people, for spearheading the building of people oriented legacy and development Projects in Aniocha North.
“The penchant to develop your area is the hallmark of leadership and good governance.
“I congratulate you for your vision and determination to leave a legacy of progress for your people.
“You are just doing what we expect you to do and God in His Infinite Mercy will bless you. I urge you to do the market well as you have envisioned, towards projecting the founders of this historic Market and the entire people of Aniocha North.
“I pray on behalf of the People of Aniocha North that this Market Project will be completed as you have wished and that God will keep us alive to come and witness the Commissioner of the New Ultra-Modern Afor Market Issele-Uku to His glory,” Chief Elue prayed
Earlier in his welcome address, the Secretary to the Local Government, SLG, Hon. Kennedy Okoh appreciated leaders and the people of Aniocha for coming out in their numbers to witness the epoch making event and assured that the transformation of the Market to a Modern one would in no small measures boost economic activities in Issele-Uku being the biggest and the main market that accommodate all communities in Aniocha North Local Government Area.
While commending the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Emma Chinye for his proactive translation of his vision of rebuilding Aniocha North into action, he expressed confidence that the completion of the Market would bring about an improved standard of living not only to the people of Issele-Uku, but to the entire people of the Area.
The highlight of the ceremony was the offering of Special Prayers by the traditional ruler of Issele-Uku, His Royal Majesty, Agbogidi Obi Nduka, Obi of Issele-Uku and the performing of the formal ground-breaking and foundation laying for the Ultra-Modern Afor Market, Issele-Uku by the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Emma Bazim Chinye.
