A renowned political leader and member of the Delta State Advisory and Elders Council, Dame Nkem Okwuofu, has expressed great grief over the demise of the former Deputy Governor of the State, late Prof. Amos Utuama, SAN.
Prof. Amos Utuama passed on in Warri, on Saturday, November 2, 2024, after a protracted illness at the age of 77.
Okwuofu in a statement on Sunday, described the passing of the late Deputy Governor as a great personal loss, adding that he was like a father figure to her.
Dame Okwuofu in the statement, recalled their days in the State Executive Council where she served as the Commissioner of Arts, Culture and tourism with Prof. Utuama as the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State, noting that the late former Deputy Governor, was not only a dependable personality, but had also been instrumental to her further educational development.
Okwuofu maintained that late Prof Utuama was an academician of no mean repute, an accomplished legal luminary and a renowned politician who devoted the greater part of his life to the service of the State and humanity in general, even as she lamented that his demise has, in no small measure, robbed the state of his wisdom and intellectual sagacity.
While thanking God for the good and impactful life that the former Deputy Governor lived, Okwuofu sympathized with the children and the entire Utuama family and prayed to God to console them with His consolation, even as she also prayed for the eternal repose of the soul of their late Father.
