Elumelu Projects Gov. Oborevwori’s Achievements on World Stage, Bags Anioma Association USA Honor Award …Says People’s Wellbeing Propels His Representations

Immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Ndudi Elumelu, OON, said Delta State has continued to witness another level of development in every sector under the leadership of the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori.

Elumelu spoke on Saturday July 6, 2024 in Houston, Texas while delivering a keynote address at the Bi-Annual National Convention of the Anioma Association In the United States of America, where he was also conferred with the Honor Award by the Association.

 

He said the Governor’s policies and actions are in consonance with his administration’s MORE Agenda that is anchored on Meaningful Development, Opportunity for All, Realistic Reforms and Enhanced Peace and Security, saying that with this noble mantra, the Oborevwori’s administration has been delivering impactful, life-enhancing programmes and projects that has continued to be of immense value to the people of the State.

Elumelu who was the Special Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker at the Convention with the theme, “Tackling Healthcare Insecurity In Anioma Community of Delta State, Nigeria, commended the State Governor for his dogged efforts in the delivery of comprehensive healthcare services to the people of Delta State.

 

The renowned Political Leader, noted his most recent achievements as a Politician and a representative of the people which is the opening of the College of Nursing Sciences in Onicha-Uku, a project he personally attracted to the State and said the medical institution will go a long way in boosting training of health manpower that would guarantee adequate healthcare for the people.

He particularly appreciated the Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for his role in ensuring the actualization of the take-off of the medical institution as well as the Governors numerous projects and programs geared towards enhancing healthcare in Delta State.

“Equally commendable is the Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to the Delta State Contributory Health Scheme, especially the Equity Health Plan for vulnerable group including pregnant women, the elderly, children under 5 years, physically and mentally challenged and all resident of Delta State classified as poor, which premium is paid for by the Delta State Government.

“Only last month, Governor Oborevwori released over N1 billion for projects in the College of Health Science at the Delta State University of Science and Technology Ozoro.

“These and many more are major milestones in the collective quest to ensure better healthcare for our people. Many of you are professionals in health, education, IT, construction, engineering, architecture and other fields. You have many ideas, expertise, far-reaching connections which we must tap into. I believe that collectively we can do more for our people.

“Our people of Anioma still need more health centers, hospital equipment, more access to credit and more basic social amenities that enhance better and healthier living standards and we must continue to stand up for them,” Elumelu said.

While charging them collectively as a group to come up with ways to consolidate on intervations on healthcare needs in the State and particularly in Delta North, Hon Elumelu said as a Politician as well as a Political leader in Nigeria, his motivation has always been the well-being of the people of Anioma, affirming it to be a lifetime calling.

“I have continued to exert myself as much as possible in ameliorating some of these situations despite the temporary setback of the 2023 general elections.

“The wellbeing of our people is the driving force behind my sponsoring over 50 bills and motions in the House of Representatives (one of the highest in the 9th House of Representatives), executing numerous infrastructural constituency projects and programmes that continue to economically and socially empower our people; attracting key Federal Government projects, securing employment for our youths in major Federal Government agencies in addition to various entrepreneurship capacity-building programmes for our people.

“Some of the bills that are relevant to Anioma include the Bill for an Act to provide for creation of Anioma State; which was propelled by my strong faith and belief in the capacity of the Anioma people; the Bill to establish the Federal University of Technology, Asaba, Delta State; the Bill to establish an Institution to Coordinate Government responses to infectious disease outbreaks among others.

“This is in addition to numerous motion issues on the development of Anioma including the restoration of Aniocha South Constituency, provision of equipment at the Federal Medical Center, Asaba, restoration of power to Enuani communities among others.

“As a member of the House of Representatives, I ranked as one of the most prolific in the execution of constituencies projects in the 9th House of Representatives during which I delivered key infrastructural and human capital development projects including strategic roads, drainages, electricity projects, hospitals, vocational centers, ICT centers, town halls and other projects in the 58 communities that make up Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency. I also had cause to cite various development projects in other communities within Anioma.

“This is in addition to numerous entrepreneurship programmes where over N300 million in cash grants were provided to beneficiaries to support start-up businesses.

“This is beside empowering over 500 beneficiaries with hundreds of tricycles, motorcycle, electricity generating sets and deep freezers to support their businesses, in addition to all-expenses-paid training programme for over 200 youths and women in cassava and rice production after which starter packs worth millions of Naira were given to them and numerous vocational trainings and scholarship opportunities in various fields.

“Further to this is the empowerment of over 2000 beneficiaries, including through job placements in Federal Government Ministries, Agencies, direct employment as Personal Assistants (PAs) in various sectors as well as empowerment through various financial interventions.

“Additionally, is the installation of over 1200 stands of solar lights across the Aniocha\Oshimili Federal Constituency, rebuilding of the Oko and Asaba Jetty for eight twenty-passenger capacity boats and rehabilitation of government hospitals in Onicha-Uku and Onicha-Olona and other communities in Anioma,” Elumelu stated.

Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu who was accompanied by his dear wife to the event was later bestowed with an Honor Award.

Presenting the award on behalf of the Anioma Association USA Incorporated, the National President, Sir Felix Ndubuisi Obidi said it was in recognition of Rt Hon Ndudi Elumelu’s outstanding dedication as a testament of a true son of Anioma People in the 9th House of Representatives.
