Chiazor Urges Journalists To Lead Propagation Of M.O.R.E Agenda, Says Delta Governor Remains Committed To Journalists Welfare

The Executive Assistant to the Delta state Governor on Media Comrade Norbert Chiazor has urged journalists to lead in the propagation of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E agenda for a better Delta.

Comrade Chaizor made the appeal when he played host to the working committee of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,Delta State Council in Asaba.

Comrade Chiazor, former chairman of Delta NUj, said the Oborevwori administration was prepared to work with journalists in order to effectively drive the M.O.R.E agenda.

The veteran journalist,said the media was needed for any government to succeed noting that the Oborevwori leadership would remain committed to the welfare of journalists in the state.

He emphasised that the present administration holds media practitioners in high esteem as displayed in the last election where Governor Oborevwori maintained a high level of neutrality and ordered that the people’s choice should prevail based on free and fair polls among journalists.

The Executive Assistant noted that the training and retraining of journalists in the state would be at the fore front in the present government assuring that journalists would also be encouraged with a professional Award in various categories, for their dedication to duty to spur them .

Comrade Chaizor decried the rate at which the cyberspace had been taken over by quacks who post unverified information at will and urged journalists to be fully involved in the different social media platforms to stem the tide

While encouraging media practitioners to always verify information before publication, Comrade Chaizor urged the executive to set up a disciplinary committee to ensure that media practitioners uphold ethical standards in the discharge of their duties.

He urged journalists to carve a niche for themselves by abstaining from blackmail and publishing information that would earn them respect rather than being feared..

The state chairman of the NUJ,Comrade Churchill Oyowe said the visit was to commend Comrade Chaizor , a leader of repute for his support during the last NUJ election and promised to ensure that members of the union uphold professionalism in the discharge of their duty to enable the present administration achieve its objective.
