2023: Aniocha North Council Boss Okwechime Urges Constituents To Vote All PDP Candidates

Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Delta State, Hon Kevin Okwechime has urged the people of the area to come out en-mess to vote all candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the forthcoming general elections.

Okwechime spoke on Wednesday January 25, 2023 at the commissioning of borehole and water extension project at Obomkpa in the Council area, executed by Delta State COVID-19 Action Recovery Economic Stimulus Program (D-CARES)

The council boss commended the political awakening of the people of the area and said that it can only be appreciated the more when translated to positive charge through the use of their Permanent Voters Cards wisely during the elections.

“I therefore urge the good people of Aniocha North to use the opportunity of the extension of the deadline window for the collection of PVCs by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to go to the designated collection center for the collection of your PVCs.

“Armed your selves with it and come out en-mess for the general elections on Saturday February 25 and Saturday March 11 to vote Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates at all levels,” Okwechime said.

He commended the State Governor and Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for the vision and commitment of the State Government through Community Driven Development Social Implementations Unit under Delta State COVID-19 Action Recovery Economic Stimulus Program, saying that the program achievements so far have been impressive and impeccable.

“We understand the multi sectorial approach being implemented under this veritable programme, aimed at reducing the post COVID-19 pandemic losses inflicted on the people. It is heartwarming therefore to note that today’s event is one of such intervention which by design inspired a wide range of income generating and livelihood enhancing activities,” the Council Boss said.

While congratulating the people of Obomkpa for meeting the eligibility criteria especially when the project is the one that is actually based on demand, Hon. Okwechime called on the community not to only see the project as their own, but make conscious effort towards maintaining the borehole scheme.

“The consequences of not taking full ownership of this project manifest in abandonment and dilapidation, even shortly after commissioning,” he weaned and called on the traditional ruler, the community development committee, Youths and other stakeholders to support the State Government in its vigorous campaign for community approach to projects ownership, management and sustainability in view of the inherent benefit to the people.

Hon Okwechime who was represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, SLG, Hon Kennedy Okoh, assured that the Aniocha North Local Government, in keeping with the aspirations and commitment to people oriented projects, will continue to create awareness by way of sensitizing the other communities in the area to embrace the Delta CARES Programme while urging the management of the programme to meet the needs of other deserving communities in the area.
